Looking to continue to build off of yesterdays nice profit (8-6-1 / $3100) and forget about Saturday's NCAAF collapse I am turning to the New England Patriots.
There is no way I am going to bore anybody with stats, trends, and analysis. There just is not a need to do it in this one.
Clearly, there will be no arguement that New England is the better team Offensively, Defensively, Special Teams, and Coaching. If anybody does argue those facts then they need to do some research to set themselves straight. that is their job, not mine. That being said, tonight we have the NFL's #1 Offense and the NFL's #1 Defense on the same sideline as New england is tops in both categories. While their Offense is dropping 38 points per game on opponents thus far this season, the defense is just as potent as it has allowed a meager 207 yards of total offense per game and a total of 11.7 points per game thus far. On the other side of the ball, Cincinatti's offense has put points on the board averaging 31 points per game, but their defense has allowed as many surrendering 31.7 points per game. The 93 points that Cincinatti has scored thus far in the campaign is a little skewed however as they were able to put 45 up against Cleveland in a totally defensless game.
While many would say that New England has yet to face any stiff competition, I would remind people that neither has Cincinatti. The Bengals one win this year came gift wrapped by the Rvens as they committed 5 turnovers! Despite the 4 fumbles and one interception the Bengals were behind at home until 8:48 remained in the game and they took a 7 point lead which they held on to. Think about that for a few minutes, Baltimore gave them the ball on 5 occassions and they could only muster a 7 point win halfway through the 4th quarter.
There is definately an edge when playing at home on Monday Night and I am sure that the Bengal fans will be very loud and excited for at least 1/2 way through the first quarter. New england will not turn the ball over 5 times, and unless the Bengals can match the Patriots point for point, this one could be over by the time the 1H ends.
Unlike in the NCAA on Saturday, this is the NFL and emotion will only carry you so far. Talent takes over when you have paid atheletes on the field and no amount of rah-rah will be able to change that. A Zebra cannot change it's stripes and neither will the Bengal defense change theirs. New England will find little obstacles in the way of their powerful offense, and I expect the defense to pin their ears back and be all over Palmer tonight. no Rudy means no fear of the run (if there ever was one) and it is obvious that the Bengals will have to throw early and often if they expect to even have a chance at remaining competitive in this one.
Do not over think or outwit yourselves on this one tonight. New England will be ready to play and should have little trouble imposing their will Offensively or Defensively tonight in Cincinatti. If you want to fade the Patriots wait two weeks until the Dallas game and you may be right, but do not fade them tonight!
Pick: New England -71H New england -4.5But, what the hell do I know?

Did you see what the home dogs did yesterday? With the exception of Minnesota who started there 3rd string quarterback and San Fran who lost Alex Smith in the first series, all dogs won outright. Might lean towards Cincinnati, but would rather pass because the Patroits are so good.

I just do not understand some of the threads I am reading. Of course, i could be wrong, but I do not see any way that you could be on Bengals tonight. Offensively they have weapons, but they are all pass related and the patriots know that. Defensively they have nothing. Brady isn't going to all of a sudden become Grossman. I see no way that the bengals can keep up in this one. None.

brtrain - yes I saw what happened yesterday but those teams are not the patriots. Atlanta beat exactly who? Buffalo beat exactly who? Giants beat an Eagles team w/o 4 probowlers playing. Chiefs didn't beat Chargers, the COACH beat the Chargers. I mean the only suprise to me yesterday was Pittsburgh and actually I wasn't that suprised ( I teased them +7.5) because of the coaching situation. Just like Indy yesterday I see no way the patriots don't handle business tonight. I know the Colts were at home, and Patriots are on the road, but I just don't see it.

i agree, monday night emotion should at least halve the pats focused on performance
pats got better everything at most positions and coach
if bengals win they deserve my money, may buy it down and tease it with an over or something

don't you think vegas should've set the opening line a lil higher pidi? 6 seems kinda low. i would've thought 8 or 9 might be right. something about that line makes me doubt the pats are going to cover. i mean cincy has one of the worst defense and gave up ton of points to the browns, and the line only opens at 6... have a weird feeling cincy is going to come with their "A" game tonight....marvin lewis is 4-0 on mnf!
just a gut feeling. but gl!

jh3679 - I think they know exactly what they are doing. If they set it at 8 or 9 on monday night at home where do you think all of the money would go? Patriots. So, set it a little lower and make people overthink themselves. Laying 7-7.5 on the road on Monday Night is huge beleive me. I don't know because I am not nostrodamus, but I see no way that Bengals win tonight and I can't see them within 2 TDs either. BOL ||clover.gif' border=0>||Peace_5.gif' border=0>

I have been a pats for over 25 years, i'm 35. this team is awesome beyond belief, adalius thomas is the sickest football player ever, he has out-run wideouts for an int return for a TD. you can't say enough about this team. But for some reason, my feeling is that the Pats will be in control all game and Carson and Chad Johnson will slip in the back door late. just a gut feeling for what its worth. My local has the game at 8.5. Pats up 14 late, and garbage td blows the cover.||Peace_5.gif' border=0>

Agree & with ya! Doesn't need to be overthought IMO. Doesn't mean Cincy might not cover or win outright, but the question is where do you want your money - on the team that is clearly superior on O & D with the best team chemistry/balance and qb/coach in the game (def the best tandem) or a team with a good & potentially explosive offense w/o their best RB, an average D and hope that at home on MNF, somehow their D will will be pumped enough to play over their heads & that they'll get enough breaks/to's and/or big plays on O to cover.
Square or with the public or not, an easy choice for me. Pats by 10+ - GL to us & congrats on yesterday!||clover.gif' border=0>||Peace_5.gif' border=0>

Jayson25 - If it's the bengals in the end then as always I will say congrats to bengals backers. BOL tonight buddy.
yoyo - If it is as I say and Patriots take care of business, you WILL NOT find me in your thread using icons to denegrate your pick. (denegrate means put down).

Good call PIDI. This game is just screaming blowout. In fact, I think that midway through the 3rd quarter we won't have to be worrying about the total going over or the Bengals back-door covering. I see New England in a route. The Pats are going to expose the porous secondary of the Bengals and Brady is going to carve it up.
New England 45
Cincinatti 24
