only reason Russell is starting is because he's making 16 million this year!  how are you going to have somebody making 16 million a year  holding a clipboard on the sidelines?

All that hype for nothing! Raiders are going nowhere! Typical start of the season! Next time SD plays them they will dominate! Idiots!!!!!!

Nah he's only 23 I believe.  Give him till he's say 26 then judge him.  It's not like he's been playing for good coaches or with a good O-line.  This is coming from a major Raiders hater!

There are definetly worse starting Qb's in the NFL!  At least Russel doesn't throw alot of picks.... Once again I don't like the Raiders at all!

He has a good o-line and a good running game. At least tonight anyways, he was hardly touched. Just imagine if he had P. River's o-line tonight. All that time and still he can't get the ball to the spot.

People that defend this guy is just amazing.

I have been a Raiders fan since I was 6 years old and I have never been as disgusted by them as I have been the last 3 years.  Draft after draft they pick busts or over-value players.

Huff - a high 1st round pick is 2nd string in his 3rd year as a pro.  Philip Buchanan is gone, this year they pass on Crabtree and go way down the board for a guy that caught ZERO passes tonight.  Where the fuck was the 7th overall pick ($23 MM 0ver 5 yearsw/ $19MM guranteed) and of course they passed on a slam dunk with Calvin Johnson to take Russel a year back.

IMO, the guy is a clown.  He acts like one, dresses like one and (most importantly) plays like one. 

Even during the Jay Schrader era, the Vince Evans years, etc...  I knew we'd get it together again.  And we did.  With Gannon and Garner and Crockett, Tim Brown etc.  the late 90's-'02 were awesome.  But I believe that the leadership is now totally brain dead.

Bad trades, bad drafts, bad personnel decisions, bad coaches, etc.  It is sad, but I will wait.

You might want to add Robert Gallery to that list as well. The guy was suppose to be a stud at LT for years to come. Now he's the LG and who knows what's next for him.
 
Bush and McFadden look like the real deal though. so maybe there's hope. And this is coming from a die hard Broncos fan.

BigEv617, Russell was the number 1 player picked...and often misses wide open receivers......people are just frustrated with him that's all. 

But tonight he covered and got the over....for me...so I'm happy.
Raiders have improved that's for sure. but giving away a number 1 pick for seymore is a stretch.

Yeah kickinA - I loved the Bush pick.  Watched him a lot in NCAA and they were really smart to grab him.  Also McFadden is great if he is used as part of a tandem.  If he becomes a 25+ carry a game guy, he will not last long.

Agree n Gallery, but everyone had him high on the board.  It seems like this all started when Barret Robbins had his manic breakdown.  And Callahan failed to insert 20-25 new plays in the playbook against Gruden and the Bucs (how did that happen again?) They had the smartest QB in the NFL and that was a smart, high Fb IQ, veteran laden team.  Put in 20 new plays run from the same formations as the ones Gruden knew and the Bucs would have been spinning in circles.  They should have romped in that SB and against any other team they would have and had Callahan not had his head up his ass, they would have beaten teh Bucs too.

Russel is a lot like Quincy Carter  can run throw not accurate

I realize this is a stretch, but McFadden has the capability to be, dare I say Adrian Peterson-like. He's a big back with the speed to break it on any given play. I call this a stretch because before that can happen the Raiders would need an actual passing threat.
 
Personally I don't think he's been featured enough having to share duties with Bush and Fargas.
 
Gallery's a bust alright, but not nearly as bad as Tony Mandarich was.
