NBA capper but the NFL's 17 weeks are just too much fun to lay off of....so just for the hell of it...

GAME: Rams @ Lions -3.5 

I simply can't get this game off my NFL radar. I have been following the Rams for 8 weeks, looking for their win and expected it to come sooner then this...without an outright win here, 0-16 is staring at the Rams like a hitman's gun barrel on mob snitch's temple. Their remaining schedule:

VS. Saints
VS. Cardinals
VS. Seattle
@Bears
@Titans
VS. Texans
@ Cardinals
Vs. 49ers

Worse yet, this is the Rams bye week and they'll be heading into it 
0-8 with another loss a near certainty against the Saints.

Advantage for the Lions: Stafford and Calvin Johnson are both probable.

Advantage for the Rams (betting wise because that's all there is): 
Lions are a big public favorite 

As stated, this may be the only winnable game remaining on their schedule unless your looking towards the Titans at a possible 0-12 start

Last time the Lions gave out 3.5 or more in a game: It happened 17 in the past ELEVEN SEASONS plus the games played this year...the Lions are a horrid 4-13 ATS in those games.

Lastly, even the local newspapers in the Detroit area, a city with a dilapidated infrastructure and economy, are getting cocky with the Rams coming to town..Mike O'Hara from the Detroit News:

Rams (0-7) at Lions (1-5): This game is about the Lions, not the Rams.

Make no mistake: The Lions know this is a winnable game.

During the bye week, center Dominic Raiola reflected on the first half of the 2007 season, when the Lions were 6-2.

"That felt so good," Raiola said.

There is some decent value at +165. I think the Lions win easily, but they are still a bad club with a losers mentality. Anything can happen, and with two teams that suck this bad, your chances are pretty decent. The payout is worth a shot

No Calvin Johnson means no offense for the Lions.  Rams have a decent shot to steal this one.

a no-play is probably the smartest move...now the jet game? with the Dolphins who were driving for a 31-3 lead at the half only to collapse against the NFL's number one team, i have MAJOR issues giving 3.5 to that team on any field... especially now that Henne has gotten some reps.

Chris Jenkins is out for the season for the Jets. That cripples the 3-4 Defense. But at the same time, the Jets offensive line is one of the best in the league, and they are really starting to come together. Between Thomas Jones and Shonn Green I see another huge day on the ground for the Jets. Both teams will move the ball without much trouble. This will take alot of pressure off of the young QB's in the game. There will be almost all man coverage on both sides, and they will utilize the playaction. I think over 40.5 is the best play on the board today IMO. I'm not sure on a side though, I think the line is pretty sharp. I think it will all come down to redzone defense. Both teams will move the ball without much opposition, so whichever team can get punch the ball in the endzone rather than settling for fieldgoals will win. And I have no idea which side that will be.

i totally agree...i just see this as THE GAME for the Rams or 0-16 is looking like the real deal...so the ML has too much value (which shouldn't surprise since it JUST happened last year)
