I ask you again what is your problem with me oy my analysis/ I have put a good argument together on why the Saints cover. Where is your argument or do you just come here to throw personal abuse at people for no reason?

It wasn't a must win game.

It was for Detroit. Biggest rivals who you haven't beaten away from home in donkey's years. Win you get a shot at the Giants and then you can go back to Green bay knowing you beat them there 2 weeks previous (doesn't matter what the circumstances are). This is as close to a playoff game for Detroit as you can get. They backed into the playoffs and now a team backing in has to head to the hottest team. NO is the correct play no matter what happens

Bottom line, they were in regardless.  Hence, not a must win game.

Would they have preferred to play the Giants/Cowboys?  I'm sure.  But that doesn't make it a must win game.

As far as Detroit getting some kind of psychological lift out of winning at Lambeau on the last day of the season against 2nd stringers.... Please.

These silly theories and looking for things that simply are not there.Saints have been blowing teams away because they are a good football team. The Lions were desperate to win yesterday. Win and they are away to New York/Dallas and they would fancy their chances and have momentum going into the playoffs. Lose and its off to to a 13-3 team on fire and a serious dent to the confidence.

Don't over think (that is what you are doing) the facts are simple. Detroit couldn't beat a team playing backups with nothing to play for. They now have to go on the road to the hottest team in football. People are focusing way to much a last year, which has nothing whatsoever got to do with this year. The Saints will use last year as motivation, that's the only stat you have to worry about from last year. The Lions have already been beaten by the Saints and this is the last place they would have wanted to go (bar Green bay)..

The problem for Detroit is that they are far too one dimensional. They don't have a rushing game, so the Saints can afford to drop extra players back in coverage. Detroit is 26th against the rush and I see NO running more then expected. If the run gets going how can they stop Brees? They can't. New Orleans is a FAR better football team then Detroit. That is the only stat that matters. So far this season anytime Detroit has faced top ranked opposition it hasn't covered the spread. The line is set this high to reel in the Lions Backers and it seems many on this site has fallen for the Line.

Fade Detroit in a dome against a top team always! If you don't have balance on offense against the top teams you get exposed (as has been proven)..This will be Detroit playing catchup and Stafford making mistakes. Saints will win by more then 14 this time...

Good football teams don't lose must win games against their biggest rivals playing backups! This is the point that is just not registering with you.

If they win they have a legitimate shot at beating the Giants and then who knows. They haven't beaten (or covered the spread) against the elite teams in the NFC. Green Bay, San Francisco, New Orleans. They couldn't get it done last week when they badly needed to and know you expect a team who hasn't shown any kind of winning mentality against the top teams to suddenly turn it on!

The public preception that Detroit is not a very good team is spot on and I am quite sure will cost you again. There is no hidden agenda or secret here. Even if Detroit covers, New Orleans was the correct play pre game based on Factual Evidence...

1) New Orleans has covered the spread in every home game this season..
2) Detroit has failed to cover the spread against the better teams this season....

To bet against New Orleans (even if you are lucky enough to get a back door cover) is the incorrect play and your reasons for playing it are either invalid of incorrect...Detroit is too one demensional on offence and too atrocious on defense to keep this close..

You're ignoring the psychology of the game - not just football, but all competition.  It's a powerful thing that cannot always be overcome, especially for a young, immature team like the Lions.  It's not easy to get up for a game against back-ups, especially when you're coming off a playoff-clinching performance.  Conversely, when you're coming off an unusually bad performance and have revenge against an outstanding team on cruise control who's primed for a slight let-down against a team they've just beaten on the same field....you never know.  I expect Brees to face more pressure than he has in a long time. 

Bottom line is, they weren't as desperate to avoid the Saints as you think they should have been.

Tough pull to take Lions + pts, but this is the playoffs, I believe ball control takes a large roll in this game if it is tight.  I just can't see NO not scoring a ton of points, they will get their 38, but DET does have T. Young playing at a high level, SUH with something to prove, K. Smith back and rested.  I must say I would need 13 pts to feel better with DET, but it's the playoffs, double digits it tough.  DOME=comfort for both teams=lots of points.  ATS=turnover margin.

Note that 3 of those teams ARE in the Play Offs, and they were all crushed in NO's house. Also, the 62-7 butt-whuppin' on the Colts should be telling anyone exactly how NO plays in these Prime Time games....like a team on a mission to DESTROY!
The fact is that NO excels playing in their house on Prime Time. They don't play like that in any other situation, not regular Sunday games at home, and definitely not on the road. That this game is in Prime Time in the Superdome is all the analysis you really need! The crowd goes crazy, the team feeds off of it, and the away team has a really tough time dealing with that combination. False starts, penalties (not that Det needs any extra reason to commit penalties - being that they ARE the WORST penalized team in the playoffs), etc....

** Why don't you go back and check on match ups in which the losing team then has to face the victor again on the road in the Play Offs....it's a dismal record for the team "seeking revenge" on the road. It's a losing angle.

It's your business if you want to play amateur psychologist and make rather obtuse assumptions based on a complete lack of understanding of the reality of who these two teams are and how they play in their respective situations: NO at home on Prime Time, and Det on the road. To make a psychological evaluation when you don't even understand WHO (WHO DAT? lol) you are evaluating is ludicrous!
This is WHO these teams are and how they play in their upcoming situations:
Det 3-3 ATS as a dog, 4-7 vs conference, 1-6 vs teams with winning records.
NO 12-4 ATS all games, 11-3 as a fav, 8-0 home, 6-1 vs teams with a winning record. 4-0 Home Prime Time Games. Smallest margin of victory in Prime Time game at home this season :17 pts (vs Det). Avg margin of victory in this situation: 30ppg (Excluding the lopsided Colts score and only vs the 3 Play Off teams - 22ppg!)

I had Sea in that game too because they play lights out at home and their stadium is one of the toughest to play in due to the Home Crowd factor (which you are now going to fade - wow, really smart! lol). Also, NO on the road is no bargain. NOW, they are at HOME and their home is the tough place for the visitor to deal with!
To base this year's pick on last year's pick without considering the accompanying factors and now in a completely different situation is a bit...well...not very smart.

Also, I couldn't help but notice how you stated definitively and specifically that you are taking Lions: -10 9900 to win 9000....and "will sprinkle some on the ML when posted". I took that to mean you made that bet and plan to make an additional ML bet....which if you look at your wording is the only way to interpret what you said. YOU DID NOT SAY you were only planning to take Det for 10K to win 9K, you gave a specific line and amount and also a future intention.
The reason I state this is because someone came along and mentioned that it was less than astute to take Det at -10 when knowing they are a dog, and knowing the situation with the public very likely backing NO at home, and the fact that you could have easily expected a better line by waiting (true, since it's now -11) if you had a clue as to what you are doing.
