is a good player.  but reeeeeed is the  man ill never forget that 106 yd return against philly to cover somthing 1st half or game dont remember wich.but i was jumping around like a little school girl.

Totally agree, but disagree that you think he is that much more superior than Troy.  But he is on a class of his own.

     Dawkins was awesome.  When mentioning the greats you have to include Paul Krause.  I never saw him play, but he still leads in all-time interceptions.  I dont know if we'll ever see that broken.  Also, Larry Wilson was outstanding.  Again, I've never seen him play but I've seen footage.  That guy was incredible.  The best that I've ever seen personally has to be Lott, Polamalu, or Reed.  Take your pick.  You can't go wrong with either one.  You can throw Lynch in there too.  He's just one notch below those three.  JMO.

So true, dude is 35 and still making Pro Bowls...  6 forced fumbles a lone this year, those are just as good as INT's..

i think Reed picks off Collins once next week, i dont think we'll see a lot of passing out of Collins until late when they're down 7-10 with half a quarter to go

Dawkins played the run and the pass (In his prime), unlike Reed who is the definition of a ballhawk but leaves much to be desired playing the run.

Pola is a SS, Reed is a FS so can't really compare by INT as above ave FS will out-INT Pola all-day.

Pola is monster at run support like Reed at pass cov, maybe slight below Reed.  Pola is better at pass cov than Reed at run support so I give slight edge to Pola.  For a big guy, Pola is extremely fast and quick.

No doubt Reed is best FS in long time.

Well if your just basing who is the best safety off of interceptions which are very misleading then I guess the best safety of all time is Paul Krause.  Since he has 80 something career interceptions for a safety. 

Anyways, there is no disputing that Reed is a great safety, but saying he is far superior to Polamalu is a joke.  Different schemes prevent any comparison just based on interceptions.  Polamalu is a better tackler and has more tackles.  Polamalu plays closer to the line constantly and blitzes much much more then Reed thus preventing him from being in coverage or sitting back to get the interceptions.

As for Lott/Reed in safety comparision, Lott started out at CB then moved to FS, then SS.  Lott is better than Reed, he was monster at run (most-feared def back hitter of his time) and still came up w/ 60+ INT.  He went to 10 Pro Bowls at 3 dif pos, CB/FS/SS, that's unheard of.  He probably was a better locker leader too (as evident w/ amputating his finger rather than miss more games).

hard to compare.  different roles and schemes but both playing on great defenses on all three levels.  i think the steelers are much worse off without troy than the ravens without reed.  reed has the numbers and the history of straight up game changing ints, td, etc.  polamalu has a few more years to catch up.  both will go into the HOF for sure.
