Humm...You say that the Steelers won the superbowl by fluke and that they wouldn't make the playoffs the following year. Easy to post that shit now but bud, how can you say they were a fluke when they dominated the league the year before they won it.

The year they did win it, they earned it by beating the best teams to get there.

The fluke bud was for big Ben wrecking his body before the season started and getting off to such a bad start, losing games they dominateed because mostly of Ben's bad play. that was the fluke...

Your original post is just garbage...which is why i had to reply i guess.

I don't reply to post with merits, people who post on a weekly basis and actually post their picks BEFORE hand, with ome logical explanation. Those post i just read and try to pick up on stuff.

Don't worry about everyone on here, if you just continue to pick winners then the negative feedback will come and go, but you will develop some solid insight on games you didn't look into and back you off games that weren't as good as originally selected.

BOL this weekend.

Personally, with all due respect,I thought that the Steelers won the big game (superbowl) because of some of the most horrific officiating I have ever seen in a pro game.Seattle touchdowns that were disallowed, Big Bens crawl that was at least a yard short of the endzone etc.etc.Not many teams are going to lose when they are spotted three major scores. Pitts was a good team but they got a lot of help getting there.
Good luck with your picks Lion.

I love when people try to downplay what I predicted as if I never said it just because I never posted it on Covers.com, as if its the pearly gates and Jesus himself shows you the website.  Get real.  I did say the Steelers were a fluke because 5 teams that were better than Pittsburg deserved to win that year.  Cinci.  NE.  Indy.  Phil.  Sea.

After all of this, I really hope my personal philosophies give me another solid week!  If not, I will continue to post anyway because I know I will make up for an offweek.  But I'm confident in my picks.  Obviously.

Good luck to all.

The year they did win it, they earned it by beating the best teams to get there.

The horrific oficiating in the playoffs that year happened in the Indy game..whcih was the only reason why that game was close...that and the bus fumbling at the goal line of course.

Why is this so hard for you to understand?  You didn't post your picks last week, so we don't really know that you went 6-0.  We are "downplaying" it because we didn't see it.  But, no one is telling you not to post your plays...  That's what this forum is for.

Even if you did go 6-0, big deal.  It was one nice week, congrats to you.  But if you're looking for anone to kiss your butt and tell you how great you are after your unposted 6-0, it clearly isn't going to happen.

If you have another great week this week - THEN you can come back in this thread and bubble over in a giant display of self-aggrandizement.

...and most of us will congratulate you.

That being said, I like some of your picks & I do wish you luck.  I laid a 2-3 egg last week, so maybe that's not such a good thing for you...

Not taking the time too read all the responses cause I'm work out from the college games I imagine you got railed, for your bold predictions.

I do however love most of your plays tomorrow and will ride them hard....

Laying all that chalk on the road is going to get you slaughtered. In fact I believe you're playing every road favorite
After reading your thread I'm happy that I'm on Miami +3.5 and Arizona ML.
I see you lean SD but don't play them. They're probably a better play then anything you're on.

TL, Jesus HAS apparently forced your picks to lose.  Looks like a 1-5 record so far, with the parlays gone as well.

They couldn't have been bad picks.  It has to be Jesus.

Wow Mr. Lion, looks like you lost some killer money if you took moneylines on those plays....good call buddy. You are full of hot air like so many others, but really your picks aren't shit. Go see a therapist.

My favorite Mattrick quotes from this thread:

1.  "After the Steelers won the Super Bowl, everyone thought I was nuts when I said they were a fluke and wouldn't make the playoffs next year.  Put a 1 in the "W" column for me there."

Well, you just got a shitload in the "L" column today.

2.  "I see Dallas in the Bowl with New England, or maybe even Cinci (dare I say it?) as long as their defense plays well.  We'll see about that one!  I like to push the envelope sometimes."

Cincy D sure looked like a SB defense today.  51 vs. CLE?  You might be pushing the envelope just a bit too far.

3. "my parlays:
Seattle at Arizona Seattle - 3.0   -115
New Orleans at Tampa Bay New Orleans - 4.0 -120
Indianapolis at Tennessee (Moneyline) Indianapolis + 0.0

Indianapolis at Tennessee
Over + 46.5 Open -110
Indianapolis at Tennessee
Indianapolis - 7.5 Open -120
Cincinnati at Cleveland
Cincinnati - 7.0 Open -115"

A parlay means you need to win all of your picks, not lose them all.

4.  "I'm not reconsidering ANYTHING.  Go ahead and listen to those experts on the tube or on the web.. who only pick 5 games a week yet somehow their records in mid season is a horrific 30-23."

30-23 is horrific?  Then how exactly would you describe your record today?

5.  "And again, my Week 1 picks were gimmes.  You'd have to be dumb to pick otherwise."

Yes, clearly we have to be dumb to go against your picks.

6.  "I wouldn't be surprised if Buffalo pulls out an upset, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't."

Pitt wins 26-3.  I guess you weren't surprised, were you?  You are so smart.

7.  "Hopefully my Week 2 picks will continue to show my stuff."

This is not very good stuff, dude.

8.  "Oh, you can call me The Lion."

You might have to pick a new animal.  Maybe a hamster or a gerbil.

Lion - just post your picks and if you are a solid capper, it will show over time. No need to deffend every attack.

Good luck

Taking a verbal beating here!
I can assure you that I do not feel half as bad as the Saints or Seahawks.  Week 2 for me looks dismal,  but thankfully I added a big bet on the Cowboys to cover 4 and used that with a Cowboys over 40 parlay -- and also added a late Packers win.  Luckily my wallet didn't run thin this weekend thanks to the boys.  For my "gimme" bets, the Saints and Seahawks really let me down.

(I'm starting to think dcarpe wrote down my picks and followed them all day.  Find something else to do, brother).  Hey dcarpe, I appreciate your in depth, and a little over the top research on my posting, but as for #2. "

... uhh thanks for showing that I said if their defense plays well?  (and only if).

Stuart - thanks.  I assume they will.

Thats why it matters.  37-20.

--------------------------

1-5 ??

I went 3-3 in my "easy" picks posted, and since I added GB to beat NYG on the bet card (which actually matters more than covers.com),  I went 4-3.  I went a big 0 fer in my parlays, minus the Dallas -4 and 40+ over parlay.

On my "close calls" picks, I am currently 2-1.  So if NE beat SD,  I will still finish 6-5.

Yeah, well, one parlay made up for the rest!

I will talk about the Saints more in my Week 3 post, but I may be starting to believe that it is the Saints that are the Steelers of last year, not the Bears.  Hope all of you had a solid day!

FOURTHLY,
dcarpe:  Even if you did go 6-0, big deal.  It was one nice week, congrats to you.  But if you're looking for anone to kiss your butt and tell you how great you are after your unposted 6-0, it clearly isn't going to happen.

If you managed to read the several posts I wrote about how the 6-0 WASN'T a big deal due to the fact they were easy, you wouldn't have been sitting on such a high horse today.  Don't bother to post here unless A)  You have ALL the facts correct from my side. and B)  You can post CORRECT numbers (again, 1-5?)  (I'm 6-4 right now, bub!)
