Any ideas I had of taking the Bulls + points tonight were quickly dismissed after reading this. The Cavs are dead fucking serious right now. Their elaborate pregame jerking off ritual has finally been scrapped because it's all business now.

I think that human nature means you'll let up at some point during a 48 minute game. But I can see the Cavs rallying around this very point for G2. The ESPN article is why I have a hard time seeing the Cavs letting up altogether for G2 which is what you'd ordinarily expect from a #1 seed. (For the other big favs - ATL, LAL and ORL - the line has also dropped for G2 as well).
LAL's focus got lost b/c of Yao's injury. They thought they were playing a D-league team after that, when in actuality, Yao's injury allowed Houston to play a different type of offense that surprised LAL. They didn't lose focus vs Utah or Denver.
And for that reason I'm also liking the Bucks, Ok City (I was gonna take the LAL game 2 before game 1 even started). To me it doesn't make sense. Wouldn't it make more sense to keep the line the same?

Until the Magic rain on there parade again. They would of been sweep by Orlando last year if not for a miracle hail mary 3 at the buzzer by Lebron.magic are better and have a deeper bench this year.

No, not at all, this is exactly what you should expect actually, the line adjusts to compensate for the zig zag theory. This is nothing surprising or new at all

I agree extremely hard to stay full throttle focused for 48 mins.
I'd agree with you and maybe LAL did underestimate Houston for game 1 and maybe were suprised. But how do you explain having nothing in a gm 4 loss in Houston scoring 87 pts (couldn't have been surprised at that point?). Then losing gm 6 scoring only 80, leaving the series for a winner take all gm 7?
I honestly felt Cavs would swept and roll every game. But the books have thrown a wrench in my thoughts with lowering the line. I felt like it should've gone a bit higher if anything like -12. I didn't get to watch the game so I have no idea wat happen other then highlights and post game notes.

I
elaborated on what initially seemed like a simplistic point a few posts later,
but I guess you didn’t bother to keep reading.

Of course every team is focused and hungry at this time of the year, but sometimes to differing levels. Look at the Lakers last year for instance. Even though they ultimately ended up winning the title, how many times did they not show up in the first three rounds? In that Houston series alone they authored two blatant, unconscionable lay-downs. Pau Gasol even had the gall after one of these games to say the Lakers could have won if they wanted to. There is no way in hell Cleveland is going to do that this year. I just can't see Lebron saying, "oh yeah no big deal about losing by thirty and not trying at all, we'll get them next game for sure".
I'm getting the feeling the Cavs are taking absolutely nothing for granted during this post-season journey, that means even the mediocre Bulls. The whole team learned a huge lesson last year when they got upset in the East Finals by the Magic. I mean before that series most people had already penciled them in for the Finals. They were already a little big-headed coming in, having steamrolled the competition in rounds 1 & 2, so this only added to that. They absolutely took Orlando for granted and it ended up costing them dearly. So even though they know beating these teams in the first two rounds this year is a foregone conclusion, I don't see them letting up and doing the bare minimum like the Lakers did last year. I think they're going out looking for blood in every single game, regardless of the level of opponent. And with the team they have, they're surely capable of it.
Cliff Notes: Even though Cleveland has a very easy road to the East Finals, I don't see them going through the motions and doing just enough to win at times, like the Lakers did last year.
Great explanation bro. I'm a die hard lakers guy, so of course I took some defense there. To add to your point, while all teams are focused and wanting to win, it's usually the teams with the most experience and most talent. Here, it's obviously my Lake show, the Cavs and the magic.
FYI, i'm playing cavs -6.5 1h, but BOL with your whole game play.

Give the man some respect. Of course it's not that f***kin simplistic.
It's natural for strong teams to let up against much weaker teams and play just hard enough to win. VfR's giving reasons why that's NOT likely w/ Cleveland. I tend to agree.
The other factor for me is that Cleveland is light years better than last year. Shaq looks focused and in shape. Parker is another 3-point threat. Antawn provides outside shooting and rebounding. And b/c of Shaq, Parker and Jamison, the bench is much stronger. Like I said in my other thread, JJ Hickson, a guy who was almost traded for Amare Stoudamire, can't even get 1 minute of playing time. (And no, I'm not saying Hickson is as good as AS, just that he's damn good). I haven't even gotten to LeBron who makes everyone much better.
On the flip side, Chicago has Rose on offense but not much else. Noah's a great rebounder but has no post moves. Deng, Hinrich are struggling now. Offensively, they miss Gordon and Salmons. Defensively, Chicago's never been that great.
I love the inflated 1H line of Cleveland -6.5 (I was lucky enough to get -6).

I read this article on ESPN.com. I didn't find it to be illuminating. The fact that it was writeen by an ESPN hack who obviously enjoys hanging around with the Cavaliers made it easy for me to dismiss.
I'm on Chicago +11.

everytime i've read something that felt bias and swayed my emotions on a game, like, "the jazz will be playing for so-and-so and giving it their all, leaving it all on the court..etc" then i bet the jazz thinking, "they can't lose, no way!" and the jazz get beat 101-92 in a sad effort.
