He'll be wearing #6 next season. Can't wait to hear your comments guys. Does Lebron want to stop being compared to "Jordan" the greatest of all time? Has he convinced himself he isn't the greatest? Why is he hanging up #23 now?

He once tried to get the NBA to retire #23 for all teams so that no one can wear it.  When the NBA said no, he decides to wear #23.  He is so full on it!

It's LeBrons desperate attempt to get some press now that he has been eliminated from the postseason.

The guy has legend like stats, but he always gets himself this unwanted attention by such theatrics an_speak

Maybe he now sucks so bad that the Lakers are deciding to make him their 6th man in the rotation?

Haha come on man. That's a low blow. On court he still has one of the best stats for a NBA player. And he is one of those few superstars who have also made his perform on another level. I mean he won a ring with that Cavs and Lakers team. What else can the man do lol

See I'm not the only one who thinks he can be 6th man of the year. Lou Will did it here in LA for the Clippers. Maybe something LeBron hasn't accomplished? Or maybe the #6 looks like a completed #8 & he wants to be just like Kobe? an_popcorn

Does AD take #23 then? Cause I remember he wanted that but LeBron asked him to wait a few seasons

Just a desperate need for attention, trying to do what Kobe did with 24 / 8

I can see the future now:

James wins most improved player award next season, while Street Clothes wins comeback player award an_light

I just wanted to hear everyone's opinions.

Lebron is wearing #6 in his upcoming Space Jam movie so this could be the reason he'll switch to the number again. He wore it from 2010-2014 with the Heat. Davis is reportedly expected to stay with #3. However I think that James wearing #23 has created more attention than he could handle and he wants to get away from that at this point in his career.

I think it was last year he wanted AD to have it but Nike wouldn’t allow it or something

I'm surprised the league hasn't retired #23.
