Correct on the top one, bottom one you have backwards.
Amare is perfect in an uptempo pick n roll game which is what Lin can bring. Melo unfortunately NEEDS the ball in his hands which not only hinders Lins skills...but Amare as well... thus why his team sucks.
Team/Player that mirrors this...Ellis with Golden St...he also needs the ball in his hands the majority of the time. Difference is, he actually plays defense and plays his ass off most nights. But, if they brought in more team oriented players and spread out the scoring I guarantee they'd be a better team.

I have a buddy who's a Knicks nut...and I told him 2yrs ago or whatever that they weren't winning shit with D' Antoni as the coach. His style promotes ZERO defense, and now you have 2 of the worst team defenders in the league playing 35+ mins a game in Amare/Melo. This is why they brought in Chandler, unfortunately his tenacity on defense has obviously not translated over to Melo or Amare.
As for your Melo assessment. I would agree those things made the guy a star. However, he was leading Denver to the playoffs...and that was because he didn't have a big man who ran the pick n roll. Denver got up and down the floor, had Nene who actually has post skills and they shot a ton of jumpers. This simply wont happen in NY, as Amare is only efficient in a pick n roll style...which Melo simply isn't capable of running.
