Listen chump, I've been a Laker fan for over 20 years, since 1985 to be exact. That's when I was 10 years old and I started playing basketball myself. That was right in the heart of the Lakers/Celtics rivalry.
What a dumb fuckin statement to make. First off, check my join date here on Covers...ROOKIE! I've had this name for almost 2 years since 2006! I've also had email addresses with that same name (L8kersFan74) for over 5 years now. Hence the 8 in L8kers, the number Kobe used to wear. So, how am I front-running?
Dump the HATERADE chump!
Lastly, if you were raised in New Mexico what NBA team would you root for? Plus, just 'cause you're from somewhere doesn't mean you HAVE TO be a fan of the local teams...

The fact you decided to become a Lakers fan the year they won a championship, a coincidence i guess? when i was a kid, I routed for a team that was nowhere near where i lived( Denver Broncos), now i am older and find routing for a team far away is silly. the suns, nuggets, were all around back then and closer to new mexico but have they ever won a title? So yes the Lakers are once again strong title contenders, enjoy it and strut around new mexico like you own it when they win and wonder why so many others are supporting teams like the suns or nuggets. guess it is something you'll never understand.
PS, isn't it is a good thing you did not hop on with the Celtics back in 85.

Maybe it's something YOU will never understand. I've been a fan of this team since I was freaking 10 years old. Over 20 years I've rooted them on through thick and thin. I started watching Laker games back then with an older cousin of mine who was a BIG Laker fan. That's when I became a fan and that's when my passion for sports all started. I tell you I've been a fan for this long as you STILL call me a front-runner??? YOU are obviously the one who does not get it.
Well, I see your join date as last month. So, that explains part of it. I've been backing my Lakers in these forums for almost 2 years now which include some pretty rough times. Look up some threads by 'hustle_man'...you'll find some interesting threads and posts about my Lakers.
The other funny thing is you say you rooted for the Denver Broncos...I'm guessing those were in the good ole Elway days. I guess by your standards YOU are the front-runner.
As for the Celtics, I had (even though we hated them) and still have a TON of respect for those Celtics teams I used to watch in the 80's...that was some amazing basketball we saw in the heated Lakers/Celtics rivalry back then.

, was a Broncos fan during three super bowl losses, got my heart crushed three times(my favorite colors growing up blue and orange), my love for them had faded before the wins. As far as Lakers having tough times, what missing the playoffs once in ten years? How did you survive? If you "chose" to be a Clippers fan in 85 would you still be one today, if so just as intense as now? i took a glance at the infamous hustle_man thread and found he was bashing Kobe and the lakers, im just going after front runners.

LMAO! So you were a fan when they went to the Super Bowl 3 times??? Then your love for them faded? YOU ARE HILARIOUS! And again, you're calling ME the front-runner? WOW!
If I've been rooting for the same team for OVER 20 years I have no idea how you can even consider me as a front-runner. You've got issues...

faded before the super bowl wins, because i was not supporting team based on colors, i grew up, calling me a frontrunner.. You didn't answer any of my questions, instead trying to pick apart my past. I can't wait to see how many times you bump this thread to gloat. As far as me having issues i thought people who jump aboard a winning team maybe have issues with success in their own life.

Alright take my opinion for what it's worth but here are the facts, I have a proven history of picking winners of competitions and actually betting on these outcomes:
Greece to win Euro 2004
Italy to win World Cup 2006
Kimi Raikoneen to win 2007 F1 Champ.
Spurs to win 2007 NBA Champ.
Giants to win 2007 Super Bowl.
All those above I have bet on and won, mind you on the last two I had a little money on a couple other teams, but either way I had the winners. 6 days before the Gasol trade I got money cleared from the Giants bet on my Bwin.com account and placed the following:
Spurs to win 2008 NBA Championship lay 20 to win 100
Celtics to win 2008 NBA Championship lay 20 to win 100
Lakers to win 2008 NBA Championship lay 2.96 to win 59.24
(tried posting the actual bet slips but it would constantly say 17800 too many characters)

I got Lakers at +2100 now there +800, Celtics and Spurs still +400 though.
After actually watching and betting a lot of basketball I feel confident enough (even more so with all the transactions) to say that within those 3 bets lies a winner, and I really hope someone does pull this one up in June. These 3 teams have exactly what it takes to win the trophy more so than any other teams in the NBA, from the Coaches to the Starting 5 to the Bench, front office, and what it all comes down to in sports (especially this one) MOTIVATION. The Lakers and C's have obviously more motivation than the Spurs do, but the Spurs got enough. Timmy taking less money so they could resign the other guys that helped win the title, shows you enough.
