The important thing to know about WAR is that it's an accumulated stat... so pitchers who make more starts will have a higher WAR, provided they are performing. That's why I mentioned the number of starts he had made. A 1.1 WAR over 30 or so starts isn't all that impressive. Over 10 starts it is.
To provide a measuring stick for that, assume that Corbin made a full season's worth of starts (around 32 starts). That would put him at 3.5 WAR for the season. Last season, starters with around a 3.5 WAR over 30 or so starts included guys like Gio Gonzalez, Brandon Morrow, and Mark Buehrle.
I think the value was there with the D-Backs because Corbin was an unknown quantity in name. But sharps know who he is, and they hammered that +115 opener down to +100. Unfortunately, it didn't cash, but Corbin did pitch really well all game before collapsing in the 7th.
