People are so blind....he had NOTHING to do with those world series games, TERRY FRANCONA did not win those world series games...the Red Sox did....
 
15 minutes ago when he was fumbling around his bullpen nobody had anything to say, but now that his team bailed him out AGAIN, i'm sure there will be plenty more people on here blasting me again....

Derek Lowe, Curt Schilling, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Bill Mueller, Dave Roberts, Jacoby Ellsbury, Josh Beckett....Those guys won 2 World Series Rings....

your exactly right..managers dont win..thats why the NY Yankees with the best talent dont win. theyre streak of playoffs and WS had nothing to do with Joe Torree. Thats why he and his LA Dodgers are headed to the NLCS while the great Joe Girardi is sitting at home or out on hole 9 in florida. Come on dude...you honestly think managers dont mean anything. this is the MLB they would not pay managers MILLIONS if they did not matter. as a member of red sox nation i am disgusted with you

Papelbon should have been in the game in the 8th inning for last 4 outs.  Very surprised...I guess Francona was saving him for Game 5?  Puzzling to me.
 
K-Rod should have pitched the 9th inning....hands down. The Angels were in a must win situation.
 
I guarantee you Mariano Rivera would have been in the game.

The Dodgers are on their way to the NLCS because of Manny Ramirez, without him...they wouldn't have won the NL west...and the Yankees are home because they're a bunch of money hungry underachievers who didn't play up to their potential...

Im from boston and i must say terry francona is overated.  His best attribute is his relations with the players and keeping everyone focused and keeping team chemistry high.  I love the sox but he does always leave pitchers in one batter two long.  But he is still better than 80% of managers out there.  But not having papelbon in the game to seal the game and avoid going back to LA and pitching a rookie is horrible managing.  Its the fuckin playoffs enough with babying the closer. the guy was almost gonna be a starter.  and now he cant pitch an inning in the playoffs. its a fuckin joke. better save his arm for next series.  your lucky there is a next series.  Anyways it pisses me off but whatever , lets go SOX!!! time to go fishin

msp2504 the players won the series, not the manager. believe me when  say this, as a red sox fan, Terry Francona sucks. Horrible managing. If madden was our manager, we woulda won 105 games eaisly.

If the Red Sox go on to lose this series (which is likely)  The turning point of the series is when Terry opted to go to Mike gascan Timlin in the 14th inning of a 2-2 game.  He walked 3 batters and allowed the game winner.  Now it looks like the definite turning point in this series

I agree Wood. Paps had only thrown 18 pitches, he could have gone another inning. He managed the playoffs this year like he was still in June. Everyone knew the game was over when Timlin came in. EVERYONE. Although, the Rays are just the better team this year. Gotta give them credit.
