The wind is blowing out, but the total is going down . . . ?
Going up at every book I see.
Dempter has the much better xFIP, which is a lot more meaningful than ERA or WHIP. With any south wind at Wrigley I sure don't want to be backing an extreme fly ball pitcher like Lilly.

Exactly, Dempster is due for a correction. His expected ERA is about 3.5 runs better than his actual ERA. Also, he has excellent numbers against the Dodgers. Lilly has never faced the Cubs. The Cubs are 10th in OPS vs. lefties with .768 while the Dodgers are 18th in OPS vs righties with .687.
So, I would say the Cubs have the advantage at the plate, on the mound and they are at home. I think the Cubs should definitely be favored.

Yes, their was a quick dip to 9 right after open, but most have been trending up since. Most who initiallly bet under proabably didn't consider the wind.

60 and sunny with wind blowing out 15-25 mph today...from a local.
Cubs 4-1 against LH starters this year and Lilly a fly ball pitcher, this IMO is why Cubs favored today. Oh and Dempster due, not to mention he's a sinker ball pitcher.

Getting to this thread late but there are two angles I would use on this game. One, as mentioned before, is that Dempster is 7-3 with a 2.31 ERA in his career vs. the Dodgers. Mentally he knows he owns the Dodgers. Two, is that the Cubs got rocked yesterday so I think that is extra motivation to at least give a good effort today. One thing going for the Dodgers is that statistically they are the better team and Lilly has never faced the Cubs which is usually an advantage for the pitcher. Overall the -130/+110 moneyline is usually a dogfight (see San Antonio/Memphis tonight) I prefer the +110 except in this case with everyone on the Dodgers the Cubs may have been the right side. Let's not forget that if the Dodgers bullpen comes into play that is a definite advantage for the Cubs as well. Get your popcorn ready,
