Well, last night's game went about as expected -- the M's would had plenty of chances, but these guys are seriously the WORST "clutch" or situational hitting team you could ever find (it's honestly been an on-going problem for YEARS!), which is the only explanation I could possibly muster for why Wedge would try a suicide squeeze in an attempt to tie the ball game in the 8th inning...ugh
Anyway, today it's a great pitching matchup of Darvish vs. Iwakuma. I'm sure to some that total of 6.5 looks tempting, but I say don't fall for it. Michael Saunders landed on the DL after crashing into the wall 2 nights ago, and now Michael Morse is expected to miss a handful of days after being hit in the finger late in last night's contest.
This is bad news considering the M's were already struggling mightily to get any offense going! In fact, until I see signs of life from the offense, I simply won't be siding with this team unless + money becomes too great to pass up! Darvish did struggle a bit against the M's last year and left his last start with a blister, but as the M's proved yesterday, it really doesn't matter all that much who is pitching against them at this point, or for how long. Iwakuma has been very solid dating back to the middle of last year...in fact, I believe the guy is one of the most underrated pitchers in all of baseball...but Texas has enough offense to push across a few runs while the M's, frankly, do not. In addition, Seattle has now scored 3 runs or less in 8 of their first 11 contests, and are off to a 1-3 start in one-run games.
Though I do anticipate a close contest, give me Texas here @ -139. 139/100 GL
