My Bankroll Management is so BAD---Any help/suggestions welcomed.

Question

I&#x27;m a small time gambler but I try to actually use betting baseball and football as entertainment PLUS making a little extra coin. But Jesus, my bankroll management is awful. Just busted the other day, been taking a few days off---thinking about reloading today or tomorrow. Any thoughts/suggestions? During football season my discipline is wonderful, but when baseball season comes around it all goes to hell in a band basket! Not sure why because I know that there is actually money to be made betting the bases. Thanks for the input and help fellas. BOL all

That&#x27;s a great question, I think what does it for me in football is the limited number of games each week. In the NFL, on a given football weekend there are about 16 games. Usually about 10 of those I can identify that I have zero interest in at all. So I think it&#x27;s the limited number of games in the NFL that actually gives me some success. I understand baseball is a marathon and not a sprint. I usually am one of those players that bets primarily underdogs in baseball and sometimes the RL on favored teams that I really like....I&#x27;m not sure why I can&#x27;t find a steady niche in baseball yet. Again, I&#x27;m a small time player so I&#x27;m not losing tons of money by any stretch of the imagination...but I wish I could find a relatively successful "system" or something...

Baseball is just a different beast than football and basketball for me just for the fact u cant wager on 2nd halves or do teasers.Its a lot less stressful to watch where basketball can give a heart attack in the closing minutes.After the NHL &amp; NBA playoffs to me is the slowest time of the year to play,but it gives me a chance to get a leg up on the upcoming football season.I would just stay away from baseball if u continue to lose or spend more time studying matchups,read MLB discussions on the forum..Baseball is very tough IMO.I would consider taking a look at WNBA or even Nascar to satisfy your fix.

My bankroll varies----but usually on average $5-$20 ($20 would be considered a large play for me) a game for MLB at least. So you can obviously conclude that my bankroll is somewhat "laughable". However, I do this strictly for fun with hopes of making a few extra bucks (in football my bankroll is larger and bet sizes are larger, simply because I feel comfortable betting football).

Obviously as my bankroll grows my bet amounts would increase. I have read/heard various things. For example I have heard you should never bet more than 5% of your bankroll but I have also heard such extremes as never bet more than 1% of your bankroll......

Because of the juice in many situations and when betting with such small units, there is basically zero value in betting a fave that is any higher than -110. So at times, I think I would benefit greatly by substantially increasing my bankroll. But I'm not sure....the number of strategies/possibilities seem limitless---it's very frustrating.

DamnI just bet $5 parlays to make NFL entertaining.I pour over stats and stats and stats for MLB. Read local (read: each team) conversations, and the local talking heads. Also, study the garbage out of the last few days&#x27; box scores and bullpens. I use a simple Google Docs Spreadsheet with unit count. Is it more you get in the groove and start throwing money at good looking action?

what he said ^^^^if you can&#x27;t stay disciplined, you probably need to quit or you will go broke or in debt quickly.  gambling is a monster and will suck the life out of you if you don&#x27;t have discipline and accountability set up.

yea 1-5% is fineIts not like it&#x27;s a huge deal if you go "broke" since you don&#x27;t do it for a living and can probably replenish your bankroll when you need to

Honestly something I do every now and then is just humble yourself. Have the confidence that you will win your bets. But when you place them, assume they will be losses, and set your wager amounts accordingly. If the X number of bets you placed were to all lose, would you still have enough to go for another week? I&#x27;m not the expert on bankroll management, but I have tried staying small in mlb til I feel like I&#x27;m getting hot or I&#x27;ve found a team that is hot. Then I up it a bit. Cause small bets are great and safe, but we are all trying to increase the bankroll and I believe every now and then you got to pick a spot to go kind of large. Not risk half of it large but definitely large. BOL. Btw how many bets are you placing a day and at what amounts?

I hit a few 4-team NFL $5 parlays last year. I have a $40 bankroll leftover from last season, even after cashing out my parlay plays for christmas presents last year.

oh football. such a different beast. I bet minimum for entertainment in hopes of cashing out on an hour or two of research.

good advicebaseball is really crazythis year I&#x27;ve already had an 0-6 day, 2 1-7 days and a 1-8 dayAlmost all off those bets were b/w -115 and &#x2B;120Ive also had 2 7-1 days, a 6-0 day and a 8-1 day and on the 8-1 day I had 3 huge dogsYou need to stay disiplined and not panic/try and bet huge to chase losses.

Yeah, I know my bankroll is tiny but I don't want to significantly increase it until I am COMFORTABLE slowly but surely betting even such small amounts.

However, at times I feel like I lose discipline in baseball simply because my bankroll is so small. At times I get that mentality "ah screw it, I'll put x amount on this game because it's only x amount of dollars that I'm playing with". Like, if my bankroll was doubled or tripled or even quadrupled compared to what it is---I feel like I would be more serious? It's definitely a bit of a gray and not a fun spot to be in.

Yeah, I think that&#x27;s another problem I have---playing too many games a day. On a full card I might play 4-7 plays, which I think is way too many. Honestly, probably playing more than 3 games a day is too many. Also, my bankroll is so small and insignificant that yes, whenever I do "go broke" I can easily just reload it up and do it all over again....I started out this year hot. Betting mainly dogs and favorites at the RL (always &#x2B; money). But then I got hot and said "alright, I&#x27;m killing it! Let me up each bet a few bucks and make 1-2 more a day to further maximize profits" Sure as hell, that backfired big time and by Master&#x27;s Sunday I was pissed and trying to pick longshot winners of that golf tournament

Why are you asking in this manner? The people responding may be very nice people, but none so far is a proven winner or successful money manager. If you had a pain in your side would you walk up and down the street asking anyone you met what they thought it was?

A. Determine a set bankroll for the season. How much are you willing and able to lose without affecting the family bills or welfare (security).

B. Consider 1/2 of one percent your "unit"

C. Read and study, follow religiously

One play a day is a great idea....... I usually try to bet games that are -150 or below  to make $100 a day all your risk is $150 but its 50 %  chance. I also like to bet  the overs its usually -115 . So far I am 4-1-1 This May . But tonight getting a little greedy $350 on the Rangers. Most important thing is not to get greedy $100 a day is my goal.

money management for gambling is laughable when 99 percent lose money as time passes....i would suggest you stay betting light so you dont lose alot of your money...only go heavy when your playing with house money and never ask or increase your limit

Your post is laughable. Bad money management has broken more gamblers than bad picks ever did. BTW, there is no such thing as "house money". Once you have won it, it is your money and it is your money being put at risk.
