Wanted to get this thread up early as i am raring to go even though its 8 more days. We finished the last week of the season and playoffs up over 100 units so we have a high standard to reach this season but believe we can achieve it. Looking forward to the next months and hitting targets and goals to a great opening day and year.
Success is never final, failure is never fatal, and it's the courage that counts.

Think this is low. Ohtani looks primed for a special season and i believe its doubtful they trade him at the deadline. I think they want to make a run this season. They made some sneaky good moves to improve the offense and stole anderson from the dodgers. Tough division but i believe they can get between 84 and 89 wins.

Weak division which twins have a chance to win so i will back the over with correa back and improved pitching on twins side.
Mets over 92.5 -117
Homer here but feel they wont feel the Diaz loss as bad as some people think. Robertson is a professional and can get it done and ottavino can chip in there as well. If needed a move for Bednar or Barlow in July could certainly happen when Mets are in a position of strength more then now. Love the lineups length and believe Narvaez will give them what mccann couldnt. Again here reinforcements are possible with uncle stevie at trade deadline. X factor is the starters health with verlander scherzer carrasco on the older side and having dealt with recent injuries and senga dealing with minor bumps. If healthy should dominate and give the mets chances to win every game. Peterson amd megill replace quintana without him being missed in anyway. With Buck at the healm management is always in good hands. Division is very bad and with phillies losing Hopkins and without Harper for awhile mets could have 43-47 wins in the division this year. Ill go 94-95 wins for mets

BKCapper - looking forward to your plays this year. Your point above about the NL East being a bad division - I disagree. Mets should get their wins, but it is not because NL East is bad. I'd argue it is 2nd best division in MLB after AL East. And only because Nats are just that bad it does not threaten top division. Braves, Mets, Phillies (even without Harper for 1/2 season) are all playoff deep-run worthy. Marlins will be better this year too.

Phillies aloso lost hoskins for the year. Thats a big loss. Not sure how good marlins are as of yet. Nats will stink again. Outside of braves its a good opportunity to get 10 to 13 wins off of other teams.

Diaz loss will be a factor all season. I Did read the mets were going after his brother now, or pay the pirates. Either way the mets closer this year is sooooo expensive

Diaz loss is fully paid by insurance so mets are good there financially. Dont think they feel it that much. They ciuld easily trade for a closer at deadline when they have more leverage. Robertson will be just fine as he did it before. Ottavino and raley when needed

Good thread!! Fellow Mets fan here. Just wanted to make one point. Don't forget that MLB is now going with a balanced schedule in 2023. So a team will only play the other teams in their division 13 games each rather than 19. So that's 52 games vs. divisional opponents rather than the previous 76 games total.
So 52 games vs. division opponents, 64 games vs. the other NL teams and then 46 interleague games, playing everyone, for the 162 games slate.

Oh wow i totally forgot about that i think that sucks playing your rivals less and playing stupid al teams that no one cares to see. But it is what it is! MLB also thinks the ghost runner and pitch clock are good ideas too

Looking forward to the season!! I can see both ways on the schedule now. Like I do get tired of seeing the Mets play the Marlins and Nationals so much. But as a fan for 40 years, I remember the days when the American and National leagues mattered. Now with the proliferation of interleague like this, with 46 games, it really kills divisions and leagues to me. But MLB keeps changing the rules trying to get new fans and all.
Don't even get me started on the stupid ghost runner!! Shoot, at least throw old school fans a compromise and play a couple "normal" extra innings before that crap. I haven't watched much spring training to have a feel for this pitch clock, but I didn't like it on paper. So many little BS rules to follow with it. But I do like how games have been shorter all spring, so I hope regular season games are too, and maybe the pitch clock won't be that bad.
As for our Mets, I'm disappointed Baty didn't make the opening day roster, but I think we might see him sooner than later. At least Ruf is gone! Best of luck this season and LFGM!
