Hey game, curious as to the reasoning on the Bucs? I know it's Duke against a kid makin his 2nd MLB start but Leake was solid in that start and I just feel like anytime you can fade the Bucs and get plus money there is value in it. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.

As an avid STL fan..I really feel Todd Wellemeyer (former STL Cards) will get smashed by the Dodgers tonight...An absolutely fantastic pick!!!!!!!! He is a gas can.

I just see it as a game where either the Dodgers blow them out and hit him hard or they flat out lose. I think Padilla bounces back with a strong outing at home and the Giants will be looking forward to Lincecum tomorrow by the 6th inning.

Here is what I wrote on Sunday about Leake:
Kid was great at Arizona State. He keeps hitters off balance with 5
pitches (fastball, curve, cutter, slider and change). He can hit up to 94mph but
is better when throwing 88-92 with better run and sink. He has a deceptive
change and his curve and slider are distinct and work well off each other and
he's an excellent fielder (player a lot of SS and 3B). With an average fastball
though, he leaves little margin for error and I think he is being rushed along
here as he was initially expected to start the season at Single A.
Here are ESPN's game notes afterward his first start:
Leake was pretty wild, throwing just 57 of 107 pitches for strikes. He
got the outs when they counted, though, and his major league debut could be
considered a success if you only look at results. Going forward, however, Leake
simply needs to find the strike zone if he wants his stay in the Reds' rotation

I think Millwood has been very sharp and is equal to or better than Braden. This is the O's best chance to win a game in the 4 game series with Duchsherer and Anderson next for the A's and I still think the O's have a better offense (as good as Oakland's) than people think. I se the A's only having the bullpen advantage.
The A's are better defensively. They move runners and have good situational hitting. Baltimore may have the better hitters but that doesn't translate to runs. Their offense has looked absolutely miserable. They've scored 2 or less in 5 of their last 6. Brian Roberts is on the DL and has been the sparkplug for their offense over the years. Their team is young and you can't expect them to fair better on the road especially in the Coliseum. Oakland's bullpen advantage is vastly superior. Braden has looked outstanding. Millwood's velocity is down and he's not usually getting the ground ball outs he has been accustomed too. You have lost every bet on Baltimore this season, and perhaps your expectations of them are way off and it's time to reconsider. They've lost 7 in a row. Noticing your picks you tend to look at the starter more than anything, which is of course the starting point for baseball I suppose, but usually your reasoning lacks any thing mentioning defense, situational hitting, etc. My 2 cents.

I think the Fish are a tough matchup for Halladay. They are a high strike out team and I think Halladay will have them completely off balance. Sanchez was mediocre in his first start and over the L3 years, he allows a run and half more per game on the road. Tomorrow will be a great bounce back spot for the Fish against Moyer despite his successes against them in the past. It's time for Moyer to hang them up.

They're 3rd and 2 of those 9 are Suzuki's but Baltimore has no threat on the bases. And Baltimore has 3 errors in their last 2 games while the A's have none.

As a huge A's fan that has watched all the games this season, you are correct on the analysis, but I have no idea where you are getting your Millwood info. I agree with the defensive factors and the "small ball" element and bullpen but don't see the A's as laying near -150 here. I think this is the best matchup of the series for the O's. Upon your analysis, you might as well bet the A's everytime they play the O's then.
Millwood's fastball is slightly down. In his best game last season on April 12, 2009, his fastball topped out at 93 with an average of 90.38. His curve was charted as having a -5.51 break and his slider averaged 84.22 with a break of 2.10/2.35. In Millwood's most recent outing, his fastball topped out at 91.4 with an average of 88.95 and his slider averaged 82.81, however, the charted break on his slider and curve (2 of his 3 main pitches) showed better break (slider 2.33/3.00 and curve (-7.79)which to me more than compensates for the less than 2mph that he has dropped on his 4 seamer from last April.
Meanwhile, I dont' think the A's bullpen is that outstanding., Ross, Gaudin, Ramirez, Blevins and Ziegler dont instill fear in me. I like Bailey a lot and Breslow is a good LOOGY. Is their pen, better than theO's? Yes....but I don't think it's light years.

Also, defensively, the O's aren't bad. Jones and Pie are terrific. Markakis is more than adequate. Izturis is excellent and Wieters is solid. The A's have an advantage but again, IMO, it's not overwhelming but it is an advantage nonetheless.

Haven't looked that closely as we're only 10 games in....as I learned last year on my Jays under, there's no sense panicking early on as things have a way of reaching the norm the more games that are played.
