And for the Twins...it seems this would be the best season to go after a big free agent. Maybe Matt Holliday for instance. Final season at the stadium, you should get more fans. And then give the fans something good to look forward to at the new stadium. However...revenue will only go down from here. Who would want to go to a game in April or September outdoors in Minnesota?
We only have cerebral schools here in NY. You know like Columbia, NY University, Cornell. But you're right if it didn't cost $500 a square foot for real estate we could turn one of our cow fields into a sports factory disguised as a University!!

For me Beantown85 once you crack the 100 million mark, you're not a "small market" team. The Phillies spend that much with the intentions of winning another World Series. You must apend money to make money.
Well yeah, there's no denying that Philly is a big market team but you have to look at HOW they spend their money, not the sheer number. Their top salary players are all home grown (Utley, Rollins, Howard, Hamels). Ibanez was their big free agent signing but outside of him, that's it.
Not saying the Yanks are wrong but just because another team is spending over 100 mil doesnt make them like the Yanks.
If Willis pitched like a Cy Young and Cabrera and Magglio Ordonez each hit 40 homers and brought the Tigers to the playoffs year in and year out...it may be a different story.

All I am gonna say is "buying" your championship doesnt always work. Ask the Yankees. If that was the case the Yanks would have 50 championships. They do not. Yes they spent alot this year, and it appears to be working. Whats the problem? Mad because it worked this year and not years prior? Should the team who spends the most money in the year [even if its not the Yanks, its gonna be someone else] NEVER be allowed to win? I dont understand. The Mets spend a fortune and do dick with it. The Marlins spent the least or close to it and won the WORLD SERIES. Where is this rule that if you spend the most you win the trophy?

The Phillies are better at every single position with the exception of third base and have a much better rotation. The Phils will end this series in five. The series during the regular season was more like batting pratice for the Phils than a regular series.
I'll take Lee over Sabathia and Hamels/Martinez over the washed-up Yanks rotation. Big money to be made fading the huge favorite yanks in this series

good for the Yanks for being able to run a successful business.
However, thats not what being a baseball fan in general is all about. A team that is "stacked" like they are are that is so easily getting past the 2nd best team in MLB (angels) just kinda makes it boring to watch.
There is too much seperation between big and small markets in baseball. The halos spend plenty of money and have a great squad, but the Yanks "all-star" line-up makes them look like an ordinary team. The World Series is gunna be a joke. 4 game sweep- another Yanks ring - wonderful off-season spending, however, not interesting at all.

The lowest price I saw on ebay is $695. Upper deck seats I would assume...I didn't even bother looking.
