Very true but remember the wild card came into play in Bernie's era... so your talking an additional 30 playoff games in his career to work on those playoff stats.
His 2100 hits is not enough. He needed to put his music career aside and play a few more years and then my thread would read Bernie Williams Future H.O.F.
I loved Bernie as a player. Ive even wore #51 for years playing softball.. one of my favs of all time...clutch as ever

Damon, Bernie...HOF'ers??? Now, I know Yankees fans are extremely biased, but come on...anyone who has half a brain knows that these players don't, and won't, make the Hall of Fame.

Bernie's playoff stats were some of the best out there.
#2 22 homers(behind Manny's 28)
#1 28 RBI's
#2 71 Walks(behind Chipper's 72)
#2 121 Games Played(behind Jeter's 123)
#2 165 At Bats(behind Jeter's 195)
#2 544 Plate Appearances(behind Jeter's 562)
#2 83 Runs Scored(behind Jeter's 85)
#2 128 Hits(behind Jeter's 153)
#2 223 Total Bases(behind Jeter's 232)
#1 29 Doubles
#2 77 Singles(behind Jeter's 111)
Couple questions here, 165 AB's with 22 homers,29 doubles and 77 singles. thats 128 for 165 and a .775 average no way thats true. It also says 22 homers with 28 RBI, manny has 28 homers meaning at least 28 RBI yet Bernie is #1 with 28 RBI?
Where did you get these numbers? Just a little curious since most of them make no since.
Those are remarkable numbers. And as you can see the only player in front him him most of the time is Jeter. He should go into the hall of fame on those numbers alone.

awful thread. I had to open it for the comedy factor of suggesting that Johnny Damon is a Hall of Famer...or anywhere close to one
Also the reason Bernie and Jeter, Chipper, Manny etc have those all time playoff #s over guys like Mantle, Ruth, etc are because the postseason back in the day consisted of the World Series they didnt play 3 rounds of postseason.
Those all time playoff stats are bullshit stats in the context of comparing eras and Hall of Famers

Playoff stats are more of a reflection on the teams he played on and the era he played in......

I would say no to Damon. He was a very solid player, but i wouldnt call him a great player. He would have to get to 3,000 hits to even be considered. Take Biggio for ex he's a lock. Not only did he get 3,000 hits but he played multiple positions and very well at that. I think defense does matter to the voters.

465 at bats...80 RBIs. The at-bats were a typo and the 28 RBIs I was looking at Manny's 28 homers. Here's the where I found them.
It should be right now. I think those are the only miscues.

No chance in hell that he makes it. You could walk up to ten people on the street and ask if he belongs. Half of them would would barely know him (or not know him at all), and the others will have never put Damon and HOF in the same sentence.
