I want to learn how to cap Baseball better. What is your method? ( whats the order you go about to give you the clearest picture of how the game plays out as you see it). Example- 1. Check Umpire's 2. Weather 3. etc. 4. etc.
Thanks guys, id really like to hear from some people (big or small players, doesnt matter). I want to get alot of opinions with this and kinda see what works best for me.
Thanks,

I make a legal-pad list of every game that day. I underline games with positive things I read/think/hear. That includes trends, umpires, weather, etc. etc. Then I bet the ones with the most underlines.

Look at a pitchers matchup...era whip etc against whoever they are playing. Never bet heavy chalk. Bet against overvalued teams (ie LAA NY). It's the small things but when the stars align take your shots.

Bet on underdogs who are on at least a 3 game winning streak if their opponent lost their last game. Amazingly, there are 3 plays which meet the criteria tonite...Cinci,Toronto, and the White Sox.

Every game is different. The key to me is knowing which aspects of the game are the most important to that particular match up. For example If I handicap the game and have it as one run game with the starters departing after the 6th inning then the bullpens become more of a factor obviously than a game where I have a starter getting lit up like a Christmas tree. I know that isn't much help but every game is treated on an individual basis. I promise you this much and anybody can feel free to disagree with me but there is not one magical formula to stick to that you handicap every single game the exact same way and come out a winner in the long haul. Yes there are some situations that will be favorable to certain plays, and that is one more thing to consider when handicapping, but you must decide how much weight to grant it. If there was a magical formula, everyone would know about it and the lines would then get adjusted accordingly. Best of luck to you.

Checking umpires is nice for overs/unders or having a final tick in the column for a decision on pitching match ups. Not sure I'd weight it very heavily on the front end of your decision making. If you're leaning on an umpire that heavily, avoid the game.

I'd say look at pitchers first of all, if theres a really bad pitcher just fade him. Trends of how teams are against each other, find out if the pitcher is a lefty or righty, see how oppnents bat against that... dont play heavy heavy favorites, this is baseball alot of underdogs win in baseball.
