It's not about whether or not you would get the same treatment if you died, that is incredibly short-sighted and selfish.  This man was a large part of the game of baseball that so many of us on these boards love.  He dedicated himself every day to calling the game, and many of us appreciated it.  No one is saying it's more tragic than when people who are not more well-known pass away, but it's simply the fact that this person was in some way a part of our lives and contributed to the game we love, and we are paying our respects.  Show some class, this thread is ridiculous.  If you don't care, then don't contribute.  RIP

I think we are all in the "business" of watching sports and I know most of us are fans before we are gamblers. 
 
There are people in life that are always there in whatever hobbies or sports you may enjoy.
 
I understand that you may not be a Philly fan but as a baseball fan understand that he was a instrumental part in bringing baseball to a lot of people in that part of the country. 
 
I know God forbid, when Vin Scully passes on, I am going to feel heartache...He is the voice of Dodger baseball and I grew up listening to his analysis of the game.
 
Its ok that it doesnt affect you, but be considerate what the man has done for baseball.   Thats all.

i coulnt agree with ya more.  it is foolish to say oh im sorry when u know u r not.  man people die every second in this world.  can u say sorry to all of them. nope and can you honestly say you care about them nope.  let me rot in hell for saying that but its true.  if u cared about people u would go out and make a difference in peoples lives. i have enough problems with my families health and dont care about anybody else.

He's a famous announcer that has been announcing for the phillies for over 30 years. We've all heard him. Yes, it's sad. Have some class. I agree that all these posts about him get annoying and there should only be 1 thread open for him but still...you're an asshole. If you're a real sports fan and you listen to announcers for years, you would understand how sad it is.
