I was going to post 2 "Good" picks, but I just witnessed what LAA did to King Felix. So I'm scratching PIT (+144), even with Gerrit Cole starting and Weaver having just given up 6 runs in his last outing.
CIN (-130) 1st 5 Innings
Cueto is one of the most reliable pitchers in the league with a 4-0 record and 2.08 ERA. After 7 starts, he is still yet to allow more than 3 runs this year. Miley has a 1-2 record in 4 HOME starts with a 6.86 ERA.
Bad: Fading Kazmir (CLE), Dickey (TOR)
MIN (+115) 1st 5 Innings
MIN is rolling offensively, coming off a sweep of CWS where they scored at least 7 runs in each of those games. Now they will face a pitcher who has surrendered at least 4+ runs in his last 3 starts. Deduno has not allowed more than 2 ER’s in his last 4 starts.
BAL (+124) 1st 5 Innings
Hammel is 4-1 vs. TOR in 8 career starts and is 6-1 in 8 AWAY starts this season with a decent 3.97 ERA. Dickey is 2-4 vs. BAL in 6 career starts and has a 5.61 ERA at HOME. Dickey has allowed 6+ runs in 3 of his last 5 starts – one of those games was vs. BAL. Well, BAL is coming back to town after taking the last 2 games @ DET. Both teams are hot, but I think TOR’s streak ends with the Dickey.
Ugly: Fading CWS AWAY, Lester (BOS)
KC (-140)
Guthrie is 5-1 in 6 HOME starts with a 2.79 ERA and .212 BAA. CWS can’t hit the broad side of a barn. CWS pitching has given up 4+ runs in 8 of their last 10 road games, leading to a 2-10 AWAY record in June. Guthrie threw in a complete game shutout vs. CWS in his last match-up in this series.
DET (-140)
Lester has given up 4+ runs in 5 of his last 6 starts and is 0-2 in 5 starts vs. DET with a 4.78 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, .290 BAA. BOS’s bullpen just gave up a 9th inning lead yesterday, so they are already rattled.
“Trouble with the Curve” (O/U):
COL/WAS U6.5
COL is not the same on the road without Fowler & Tulowitzki in the line-up. They are still yet to score more than 3 runs on this road trip, and now they have to face a Strasburg who has not allowed more than 1 ER in his last 6 starts. Chatwood is not too shabby either – he has not allowed more than 2 ER’s in his last 6 starts. I foresee a similar result as yesterday.
