The intelligence factor and lack of research by some people amazes me. I want to give some background on Matt Moore of the Rays who is pitching today. I read in another thread where someone called him a gas can. WTF?
Matt Moore is the number one pitching prospect in baseball!!!!!!!!! In 422 2/3
innings in the minors, he has struck out 594 guys. That is the sickest
strikeout percentage I have ever seen in the minors. Since getting
called up to Triple A in the 2nd half of the season, he
went 4-0, tossing 52 2/3 innings allowing just 33 hits and 8 earned runs
with an incredible 79:18 K:BB ratio and 1.37 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. He has
led the minors in strikeouts three years in a row. Last year, after they
tinkered with his mechanics, after June 8th he had a 1.39 ERA, 5:1 K:BB
ratio and allowed just 5.1 hits every 9 innings. He has an outstanding
fastball and power curve and an excellent changeup. He is a future #1
starter and has the potential to be better than David Price..

you would have thought they would have brought him up sooner. Could have helped them. 422 innings in the minors and blowing people away like he does suggests he should have been MLB material awhile ago..

haha i read that moores a gas can too in someones thread..normally i respond to idiotic comments..but if your calling this guy a gas can..that means their baseball knowledge is very miniscule and so arguing with them is pointless because they clearly dont know about the sport or its players..

I've personally seen Moore pitch in the minors. The kid is downright filthy. Of course, what scares me here, is does he have the nerve and poise to pitch in Yankee Stadium against a bunch of potential HOF players? I'm pulling for the kid, but am gonna stay away from this one. BOL

I laid -125 and went under 9.5 (-120) the moment it opened. At -142, I am not sure what to do. I think the UNDER F5 innings is a good play but wait to see the Yankees' lineup. I think it will be watered down, which will instil "moore" confidence.

Yes, I'm the one that said Matt Moore is a gas can. I am well aware that he is a 'top prospect', but right now, his recent performance has a Yankee win written all over it. This entire series, bettors have been dumping cash on the Rays simply because its their 'destiny' to win the wild card over the Red Sox...and what has it gotten you? 3 L's. Moore has only pitched 4.1 innings but has given up 3 ERs, 5 hits, and 2 BBs. Want more stats? Tampa Bay is hitting a whopping .215 over the last 7 days, good for 28th in MLB. So call me an idiot if you like, but I'm not the one betting on the rookie pitcher making his first start in Yankee Stadium for a team who is obviously overmatched and done for the year. As we say on Covers,

I know what you mean buddy. Some folks just automatically go against the new kid on the block, without research, reasoning or any other intelligence getting in the way. Same reason I cashed a dog play with Luis Mendoza of the Royals versus the Tigers. If the books had the balls to post Mendoza as the favorite they would have cleaned up, but versus Brad Penny, with the Royals offense scoring like it has been, he should have been it. Of course then the average Covers viewer would have screamed "FIX" and we would have to put up with that crap again. Oh well, good research, nice post. thx
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Thank you, KeyElement for not bashing my logic. I also cashed on Mendoza, Vazquez last night, and the Nats in this entire series with the Phillies. Its riduculous how many people are on the Rays bandwagon. I guess they forgot the Yankees haven't locked up home field advantage in the AL playoffs....they still have something to play for.

You had no clue whatsoever who the kid is and got taken to school. Three innings of one run ball in his last outing was a solid effort, so you called him a "gascan" based on 1 1/3 innings in his debut.
But sure, you think he'll be a #1 starter in the future.
You should have stopped when you were behind.

That's just stupid, Fade.
