100% wrongThe Yankees by rule will not play the wild card in round 1.If the Red Sox are the wild card and get swept, then the Yankees face in round 2 a rested team.  If the Red Sox win round 1, then they will be dangerous in round 2.If Tampa is the wild card, they will likely play a long series which will help the Yanks.  The Yanks feel comfortable playing on the road in Tampa.Yanks love depriving the Red Sox of two home playoff games which might be the 10 mil the Red Sox use to sign a pitcherYanks hate the Red SoxYanks would like to rest their team and set their rotation and bullpenYanks have clinched eveything they can clinchYanks would love to see Red Sox miss playoffs and get blown upYanks remember losing their 3-0 lead, and would rather not face the Red Sox in the postseason.It is a lot of easier to get road playoff tickets in Tampa than Fenway.The older Yanks would much rather play in a dome than in chilly Boston.

If a team was to lose on purpose you would see some no name on the mound for starters. It doesn&#x27;t help the players who incentive laden contracts based on offensive results to throw a game. Besides remember the Black Sox scandal. I know it&#x27;s not the WS but bseball is pretty serious with this kind of stuff. Think these players would risk HOF status for throwing a game.

if the Yanks were so concerned with tanking and allowing the rays to get in, i dont think they would have taken 3 of 4 from them just last week.
