Hello All! The holiday racing left only one man standing for Wednesday, May 29th: Arlington Park.
Arlington - 3,4,6,7,8
Once again our Key Horse for Monday - Inaugurate - hit the show spot. That is the third Key Horse in a row to do so. Time for some new ones? I'm looking.
But who cared, because when the first horse on your list, Royal Blessing, takes the opener at Belmont and pays $74.00, what do you need a $0.90 on the dollar favorite for? There ended up being something for everyone with multiple winners at Churchill, Monmouth and Hollywood, including a $300+ cold exacta in Hollywood's 6th.
Are you sure is wasn't the 4th of July??? Christmas???
Alright, enough of that. But I do want to take a moment to mention one of the Belmont races and a horse I wrote about many times: Wave Theory. The first thing I would like to do is apologize to Ms. Theory because I have, at times in the past, referred to her as a guy. She is not. She is a girl. A 3 year old filly by Smart Strike out of Glimmering (IRE) by Sadler's Wells.
Not a bad heritage to be born with. About like looking around from your crib and seeing the DuPonts. Anyway, I was super impressed with her at the Spa and her race on Monday was a clear indication of not only her talent and potential but also the problems she faces in moving forward:
She's nuts!
Just ask Johnny. I mean, blue blood can do that, you know. It was also an indication of why I was so impressed with her the first time I saw her. I wish I could run like that!
I had removed her from the Key Horse list pending psychiatric evaluation but was thrilled to see her running, and used her under the eventual winner Descreet Marq for a decent exacta. I hope that you remembered her and did the same. But it is clear that she has work to do...maybe they should make her share a stall with any NY bred by Freud! That might be the answer...
The bottom line is that she is one we will continue to keep a close watch for, as I really do believe if they ever...with apologies to Luke...get her mind right...she will be one to reckon with for as long as it stays right.
Chad Brown's placement of her, both in the Sands Point and and the previous 2 graded stakes indicates he feels the same way. Stay tuned. I'm sure Chad is checking her Blue Cross policy to see if therapy is included.
Enjoy the limited Wednesday racing at Arlington if you play it...good luck and good 'capping!
