race 6
2 WP
9/2 on the board. pattern, pace, distance, stamina.
in a rush so didn't have time to explain. 0.75 units play. was going to pass if 5/2 or lower I thought the boys would sniff this one out more so.
I knew they would play the 4 and I was fading. he completely folded in his first race and last out he pressed the pace and collapsed. i don't trust him. knew the 8 would be the chalk. basically he broke his maiden gobbling up a field of maiden claimers that got cooked on a hot pace. pass for me and overbet.
liked this pattern on the 2. first race was ok on yielding. 2nd race he really improved and ran a very professional race. comments were "rated inside until the 1/4" which tells me he had more zip then he cut loose with there and that was on the same course at the same distance as today. layoff and clement off a layoff is very sharp. five very solid drills since the last and now he got turf rated good and he already handled two different turf conditions before. also added lasix today. figured he could be close and show a lot of energy late against this crew. ran a fig last out that was decent but not great but competitive here. that was back in December so going from age 2 to a 3YO in April a lot of growing can take place in between. doesn't hurt that all three of his siblings are winners on the green including one placing in a G1 and daddy is Smart Strike an extremely potent turf sire.
looked to me like he was potentially sitting on his best effort yet.
