I waited 40 years to go to the Kentucky Derby, finally went in 2004 when Smarty Jones won.  Drove up from Chicago area.  I have to say it was the worst experience I could have imagined.  Had to buy two tickets outside the track, way overpriced, the security was just intense and way out of line, Churchill is awful, it was all about the almighty buck.  I&#x27;m a long time horse lover and bettor, but from now on will watch the race on TV!

I went once and will never go again - bought a box for all - same experience with Preakness - long lines for everything - Belmont is the only spot that can accommodate such large crowds and you can take the LIRR from Penn Station - the year I went to Preakness they ran out of food - it was bedlam - took limo driver 3 hours to get out of Preakness lot with all staggering drunk kids from the infield laying across the street....Preakness you cant see backstretch with all the infield stuff blocking view....best place to watch is home with friends.....no lines for bathroom, food and chairs are more relaxing....
