Overuse of the word "football."
"This league"
"He's playing within himself" (what in the world does that mean?)
"Pin their ears back"
After a win they ask the winning player/coach..... "how do you feel?"
The words "Brett Favre"
"Swagger"

I could drone on, but then I'd sound like one of those no-minds

I didn't know you could be out with your shoulder. Did they go to dinner? A movie? A ballgame?

That, and anything that the screw from Thursday Night Football says.

I read an article where Dierdorf said "I'm one of the best in this business." Saying nothing of his incredible pompousness, and even if he was the best, is that some sort of august feat given the level of competition? PUKE

i just remembered this...

when announcers dont know basic info.

the year after the phillies won the WS, there was a red sox pregame show on and they were talking about steroids..... they went on for 10 minutes talking about what would/should happen if someone from the WS team used PEDs. the whole time im thinking to myself, this already happened, its not a hypothetical situation, its real, and nothing happened.

It's a toss up between them telling us the absolutely fucking obvious i,e a team is down by 3 and the commentator explains to us that if they kick a field goal the game will be tied or when a commentator knows jack shit about the sport and constantly gets shit wrong.

Here in Las Vegas on our local 10:00 p.m. newscast the sports reporter gave me another one that I can't stand. Next weekend the Colts play the Jets and he said it is a rematch of last years title game...it's NOT a rematch. The Jets did not have L.T. and there are players the Colts did not have...

Fuckin idiots!

My pet peeve would basically be laziness with vocabulary.  I think I heard refer to three different guys as "cornerstones" during the Rams-Seahawks game tonight.

During a BASKETBALL game....

When the announcer throws this in....

"He's playing BASKETBALL tonight"

oh I thought he was playing football on a basketball court.....

others....

"hes bringing it tonight" - what he usually doesn't try other nights???

"he has his game face on tonight" - classic bobby knight press conf

"its like hes back on the playground tonight"

Any Berman 'Nickname"

Any Vitale "diaper dandy, ptp'er, windex man etc"

any event that Mike Tirico has anything to do with..... 

these announcers try to have some special "stich" that seperates them from the others.....how about this concept....just describe the game for us and give us some insight....

there are a million because most of these guys are horrible, but three that really seem to bother me for some reason are;

- most announcers don't know the difference between a reverse and an end around

- when a defender tips the pass away and the announcer says it was almost intercepted.  if it isn't almost a catch buy the defender, it isn't almost an interception.

- a lot of announcers don't udnerstand intentional grounding.  the qb does not have to be outside the tackle box and does not have to throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage if there is a receiver in the area. 

it would also be nice if the announcers had a clue about penalties.  when i see a flag, i usually know what the penalty is even if the violation occurred off the screen.  most of these idiots have no clue even though they see the entire field. 

you really wonder where they get these people from and why does matt millen keep showing up all over the place?

Whenever announcers do their, "mismatches" calls. For example, that TE is too big for dbs to cover and at the same time, too quick for linebackers to be covering.

Now why is it that they don't say that on ints, passes defensed, or incompletions due to great defensive plays.

Michael Kay's need to be a part of history. Whether it was A-Rod's 600th or Jeter's Yankee hit record, during every at bat he needed to go down the list of achievements/all that nonsense. We get it...it's a big deal. He knows that his call will be heard for ever so he had to make it as special as possible. He just feels like he needs to be a part of the team.
