Hey guys, Prez here and I spoke about this topic today on the radio show. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Wow, those sound like prison rules you have there Prez.
One rule of thumb I always have is, if you are someone who works in an industry that calls for tips, I will tip you most of the time.
You have to be a really bad waiter/waitress, bartender, or dealer for me not to tip you. Even if you are bad at it, but have a good personality, I will still throw you something.
I even once tipped a poor little chic that cut my hair and in the middle of it I heard her go "Oops". Not something you want to hear when you are getting your hair cut. Total hack job, she tried to clean it up, it was just shorter on the sides than I wanted it.

Its an interesting thought what you say, but the reason I tip is because A) I dont think their regular wagers are that good (i could be wrong) and B) if I like the person im down to throw a few bucks out to them, but ill be damned if Im going to tip say 50 bucks out of a couple hrs of betting. Especially if Im usually playing 15-20 a hand..which is my norm.
I tip a little on the Poker table as well, but nothing huge...

Prez, I'm with you...they should get zippo! I don't know exactly what they do except look at their watch to see either A) when they are going on break or B) when it is time to go home. The crap table is even worse when the dealers are talking to each other constantly about shop and what they did last night, what is up for the weekend etc. This goes on constantly at Foxwoods. If you are feeling good and wanna bet a dollar for them that is max for me once in a great while (especially if they make a pay mistake!)

I see what you mean about how its not our fault that they arent getting paid a lot, but I think it goes into the aspect of them knowing we are going to tip. Just like waitresses or waiters live off tipping, I think its a similar situation for dealers.
In the long run, 10-15 bucks maybe 20 depending on how much I tip, isnt going to make or break me, but if everyone threw a little bit in to the dealer, it can go a long way. its like if you need some money to go out at night and 10 of your friends throw you 5 bucks...whats 5 to them, but it turns into 50 for you.
Again, it all depends on how much I enjoyed myself with the dealer.

Have to agree with Ace on this but to each their own.
I Never tip during the game.
Whatever the case , this site(along with Wagerline) provides more wagering insight, stats, information and interesting threads than any other I have found. Blend that with all of the different opinions and personalities and it adds entertainment value too.
Other than the Saf's issue...I love this site and sister Wagerlines too.
PS. I'm in for the Vegas trip.
Step up and make it happen fellas!

1st off wait staff are actually in the service industry - they serve us - blackjack dealers are like cash register people - they stand there and act like a machines
2ndly if we didnt tip waiters, they would end up getting paid more which would be reflected in the price of the food, making it a wash - the casino cant do this as they cant charge you more than 5 to win 5 at a blackjack table, thus forcing the money to come out of the casino's take and not the gambler compensating for the fact that a casino can't - i mean won't pay its employees properly.
3rd - if everyone gives 5bucks it adds up - so what is the big deal to the person giving $5 - agreed - but this logic applies to the sally strothers feed a kid in ethopia campaign or anything for that matter - so under that logic - i think we can all find a better cause to just give $5 randomly too.
with all that said - good luck to the dealers who get lots of tips and keep dealing me good cards please.
see you guys on tomorrows radio show

and don't the tips get split among every dealer...you aren't necessarily tipping the guy dealing to you, they all go into a pool I believe.
Prez--That Vegas idea is Grrrrrrreat. I say the first weekend of march madness thursday through sunday when there is a slew of games. Maybe we can get a bunch of rooms off strip like at South Point so it is affordable for everyone and that casino isn't bad and has good restaurants. I am in and will email you.

tips for dealers no way,,this is there job, they do nothing for you, but to tip cocktail girls a dollar per drink is the best dollar spent if you are a regular at there casino.

that fucking mamaluke pulling cards from a shoe doesnt have anything to do with you winning or losing..... its your money its your skill or your luck... its your call if you start with a hundred and they deal to you for and houe and you win say 100 dollars are you willing to give the dealer 25% of your winnings i dont think so .... 25 dollars an hour is huge money probably 3x their hourly rate..... so if you gave 10% or ten dollars for the same amount of time its still more than they get from the house for doing their job its more than enough of a tip
so if you sat for that same hour and lost and were dealt say 6 black jacks and you gave them 2.50 a BJ in that hour you gave the dealer 15.00 in "tips" and you lose the other 85 to the house you walked away with 100 less and you kept a dealer happy while you lost your money????????????????
if you dont win you dont tip
if you win big who gives a rats ass you make the guys night when you walk away and throw a huge bone
if you lose.... you say good nite its not my night... and the best tip you can give the dealer is "dont eat yellow snow"
no win no tip its that simple
