Yep Hutch, it is funny how the people emotionally invested in the idea that Trayvon was gunned down from behind can't admit that Zimmerman suffered injuries and was battered. Which doesn't mean he was justified in using deadly force.

Here is the statute:

776.012 Use of force in defense of person.—A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or herself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person is justified in the use of deadly force and does not have a duty to retreat if:

(1) He or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony;
 
And here is why the idea that Zimmerman either started a fight or somehow "stalked" Martin is irrelevant:
 
776.041 Use of force by aggressor.—The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who:
(1) Is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of, a forcible felony; or
(2) Initially provokes the use of force against himself or herself, unless:
(a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or
(b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force.

The only thing Zimmerman is guilty of is trying to keep his neighborhood crime free. If you want to blame someone, blame the black criminals who were committing the crimes in that area that led to Martin being profiled as a suspicious person.

He was part of a neighborhood WATCH program, not a neighborhood watch and detain program.  

I'm not saying he wasn't justified doing what he did when it all went down, but he injected himself into the situation.  I believe only stupid people do that (as does my concealed carry instructor).  The whole thing could have been avoided.

And this poster and thinking is why America is by far the most tolerant country on its face and the most intolerant when true feelings of the citizenry are exposed.

This poster is basically saying every black young man from here until the end of time can and should be profiled and if it ends in a confrontation and even death for that young man, so be it, because he must suffer the 'sins of his race.'

The police knew him as white. If the police though he was a horse and gave him a bucket of oats, Zimmerman would have been treated like a horse while in custody.

But they didn't know him as a horse. They knew him as white and they let him walk out of the front door a few hours after he blasted a hole in a black kid.

I run across people dressed like "thugs" all the time (goes for both white and black "homies" if you know the type I'm talking about).  I honestly only care about what they are doing (if anything at all), not what they are wearing.

 Really?  Wanna be the part; gotta dress the part.  So, if you own a business you are gonna hire them without profiling the way they look?  You are going to let your children hang around guys that dress like that?  Easier said than done to assume people are all nice and cuddly if if their appearnace isn't. Cannot always wait and see if they are up to no good.  What is the reason for dressing the part if you don't want to be the part? It is an accurate summation of the events and is the reason why there is outrage.

I've forgotten more about this case than you have read so please save me the articles as I've read dozens.

He was released several hours after shooting a black kid.

Witnesses are on the record saying that the police tried to manipulate a witness account. The police have never disputed this. When in the world does that happen?? Oh, when a black kid is face down with a bullet hole in his chest.

The public sees this and says "yet another disregarding of a black life."

It is a legitimate grievance given the massive injustice in the criminal justice system with regard to minorities.

I've hired over a 1,000 people in my life from probably 30 different countries.  One of our employees just stopped by to pick up his check....he dresses, "thug."  Kid is one of the nicest people I've ever met.  

Doesn't take long to figure out what kind of a person an individual is rather than assume it because of how they dress.

Also doesn't mean that I go to a high crime area of Minneapolis and seek out kids dressed like thugs, either.

The fact is they were accused of tampering with witnesses and never denied it.

Do you know what a high level crime that is, especially in a murder case????

Do you think they went back to the police station and said, "ah they'll never believe us so forget about saying anything!"
