Bad idea. Teachers would be too tempted to pistol whip the garbage outta the kids. I'm not kidding.
Kids will not go to class for an entire week or longer, show up, have no idea what is going on, and then try to blame you for their lack of understanding. Some teacher would go postal.
I agree along these lines also.
I could see in my crystal ball a date in our near future of one of the biggest court tv media trials since OJ.
The first teacher to kill a student in self defense
I went to some tough schools where time to time some pretty big dudes got over the line in class and halls with teachers, coaches breaking up fights and such. I went to schools with metal detectors and officers since 7th grade in Little Rock. They had a "bussing" system to require some randomly selected students to travel to schools outside where they live to promote equal racial numbers. I lived in a upper middle class area with 98% white as residents. But at our school whites only made up 45%
By far I am not making this a racial thing. I am just making a point of I today am glad of what I experienced because I learned street smarts early on. I always felt safe but stats said otherwise. Hell, Little Rock was ranked like 7th most dangerous city last year again. I don't see that though. But I also am not a target and know the signs of bad situations. Uncultured adults blindly go here and there and don't know how to handle the unknown. I know adults that only went to school strictly with hicks and rednecks.....And let me tell you, I feel sorry for people that don't relate with other cultures than the redneck culture. They are pretty damn idiotic in what they believe and to ones who have experiences other things can see lack of knowledge is the downfall for hicks.
I knew dudes that had to quit high school because Arkansas Law states no one over age 21 allowed to attend. Kicked out on 22nd B-Day. Friday night football games got pretty nuts off the field and neighborhood gang scares cause of beef was always interesting
I remember back to one year of always having to watch my back. In 6th and 7th grade I had to fight 3 separate times a kid that was supposed to be in 10th and 11th grade. He came to school I think only to steal stuff from the more fortunate kids. In sixth grade, two other dudes knew where I lived and stole my Elite 50 scooter. They were suppposed to be in 8th grade. In court after they got pulled over on my hotwired scooter in the hood. They had possession of weapons and cocaine charges also from that stop. My point of rambling is some schools are not like any you know or think school is like. There are some dangerous kids out there and common issues schools have dealt fine with for years could be canidates for teachers shooting then claiming self defense. Simply because they were intimidated by loose threats and such.
Most schools have no security in place and don't even lock entry doors to school rooms to around buildings, coaches are expected to be the "school bouncers" breaking up fights when things jump off.
I would suggest electronic timing for locks around campuses that auto lock at programmed times. That would at least be a start. It seems trouble for the most part comes from an individual that showed up during school hours.
