What is the name of this random thing?

Probably one of those spyware programs if you don't have an actual program that scans your machine.

Download malwarebytes and run it:
malwarebytes

You might want to run this as well, it picks up things malwarebytes misses (if it misses anything):
combofix

Scroll down that page a little, the download links are at the beginning of "Using ComboFix"

lipps man when i clicked on automatic updates on the bottom right hand corner it installed all new updates .....i have an older computer (approx 2 years old) and i never installed xp service pack 3...i did however update my internet explorer to 7...and now i keep getting this message in the bar at the top saying......
 
intranet settings are now turned off by default. intranet settings are less secure than internet settings?
 
i get this message on every website i go to...yet this is just a home computer and have absolutely no intranet hooked up whatsoever nor have i ever set one up?? do i need to turn something off or on?? is this normal??

There have been no problems at all in Australia with this coflicker thing the news  down here just reported,i dont think you guys have anything to worry about

I seem to be safe, but I keep getting a csc.exe wants to acces my computer....should I allow this.  I  am a little leary of this especially today.

NY times is reporting early contact from the virus to its maker.  They don't know what it means, but as of midnight in most places, conflicker started communicating with someone in the Ukraine.

Something is not right.  Although it's not a major thing if it's a stand alone computer now

lipps..i ended up updating everything...got service pack 3 and everything...at first it seemed to be running a little slower than normal than after getting the updates it seems to be ok....the intranet settings clicking thing stopped happening all of a sudden.....i dont know if it had anything to do with the updates?

It's been causing some problems for sure, but nothing major so far.  Looking through the code I think there is more in store down the road.

Y2K. Shark Attacks. Bird Flu. Missing white children. Just more fodder for the media to hype up and blow completely out of proportion.  All I know is alot of virus software companies sold alot of software by educating an unsuspecting public on this doomsday worm.
