I think you didn't Follow Lippsman's  instruction throughly,

Click on this  https://www.bdtools.net/how-to-remove-downadup.php

click on the Highlight that Say: Download the removal tool and them follow the rest of the instructions from 2-4

You might want to PM PocketJack also, you guys have to scroll
 
down to the Bottom of the Page and DownLoad the Program
 
instead of clicking on the start button on the top of the page...I
 
think that's where you guys made the mistake..

I'm relying upon microsoft security updates and McAfee scan to keep the drip line going (nothing else). Sometimes a rat is best left alone in the dumpster to find his own way out.

Haven't heard anything about Mac's and whether there is cause for concern.  Anyone know?

I did the MS updae and its saying preparing to install...creating a restore point but its been stuck at that for 10 minutes now is it suppose to take longer

It all Depends on how Many Updates your Computer Downloaded from the Site... My PC only needed 1 update and I was done in a couple of minutes.. If you have a high speed connection, it should be faster, I only have DSL...

All I know is that it only Affects Microsoft Operating Systems...

If your Mac don't have Microsoft software than you're fine..

thanks for the help man i needed 29 updates i guess thats why its taking a while in went through and is installing updates but now its stuck on update 8 out of 29 for about 10 minutes  its microsoft.network 3.5 service pack 1   that its stuck on now

I have automatic updates so I am guessing I should be okay there but what files am I extracting from that bd_rem thing?

hey lipps i have trend micro and a windows firewalls will i need to use the link you sent or am i ok with my security i have, im not to computer savy.thanks for the heads up i had no clue.

I read that but am pretty computer illiterate so am leary of extracting files I might need. In other words I have been guilty of getting rid of files in the past that I actually needed when they were attached to files I didn't think I needed. If that made any sense. I don't know enough about what to pick and choose.

You should turn ON your Microsoft Updates on your Computer so that it will Auomaticly update your PC Whenever there is new updates available.. Right Now , I think you have alot of Huges files to Download that's why it's taking so long... Most people that have the Automatic updates only have to Download a few updates to Fix the Problem...For your Case it might take up to An Hour or so to completely Download and fix the Problem.

I'm not sure what you use your computer for ,but you can always E-mail that site and ask them which files are being extracted...

 click this..      ,   on your right side   it say automatic updates, you can choose how often you want your pc to do the update.. I recommend Everyday...

If you have Windows operating System then you will need to do all the steps just to be safe

Anytime you see the install Active X at the top you need to do it.
 
Here is a great program to help with spyware.  We install it on every computer that we work on.
