My favorite Rick Reilly article about reverse racsim at its finest

When I was in high school, we had a black guy on our hockey team.  We gave him shit ALL the time.  "You're pretty good for a black guy."  He used to even make fun of himself: "I can't skate, I'm black." 

Reilly is using a bit of flawed logic here.  They made an FN movie titled white men can't jump for goodness sake.  Then Reilly uses the example of being out negotiated.  In one case, it's an athletic endeavor...in another you are talking about mental capacity. 

I bet the black NHL players get shit from the others just like white basketball players do.

There is a difference between clowning and serious comments....and you have to look at each case independently.

It's all this group characterization that got is in touble in the FIRST place. 

We all know V. Carter and Shaq pretty well from their public lives.  No one I know would ever consider calling them racist. 

I remember Rik Smits putting on a clinic on Shaq in the 95 conference finals.  He dunked on his ass a few times!

I know MANY people, or all races, who want to be firefighters! Decent pay, early retirement age, comprehensive health benefits, full state-supported pension, being revered by community members as a hero....

The reason most blacks and hispanics are not firefighters is because whites have a stranglehold on the profession. They intensify their employment grip by simply creating standardized tests that those with proper schooling from communities with a sufficient tax base can pass (whites - and that is a thread in itself). 

But most of all, and this is the key, firefighting requires long hours of DOWNTIME. You are in the firehouse fraternizing with your fellow firefighters as you are on watch. 

And racist WHITE MEN don't like spending their careers amongst black and hispanics, especially in sleeping and eating quarters that are quite intimate. 

I have a black friend who went to an inner city school, who studied hard because of good parenting and was disciplined.  He graduated from Rice University.  It's not the schools they attend, its the broken homes and deadbeat dads that are the problem.  Now hurry up and find a reason why the white man is at-fault for black babies being born out of wedlock.  The more you argue for their limitations, the less you empower them.

I was watching Bill O’Reilly interview Jessie Jackson about a similar topic. O’Reilly brought up that 7 out of 10 black babies are born without a father in the picture and then asked for Jackson’s thoughts. Jackson looked like a deer in the headlights and started mumbling something about “automatic weapons killing brothers in the streets.” Because I’m sure they all wanted to be there for their children. It’s just that they all got gunned down while leaving the local maternity store.
