Going slightly off topic here but I'd rather be waterboarded by the American's than the Al Qaeda. The Amercian's I'd trust to have better technique and professionalism. They'd also only keep me captive longer afterwards as opposed to decapitating me when they found out how useless my gambling info was to them.

Bush just vetoed a bill that would ban waterboarding. so to me, that article that a top al-qaeda guy gave up so easily and never was a problem again could be a complete fabrication to make waterboarding look necessary. just because something is said, doesnt mean its true, especially in this kind of topic. i dont believe any of it. resorting to torture drops us to their level. if we're going to do this..fine, i really could care less that we maintain morality when dealing with people that would just as soon kill us. but we cant torture and be moral at the same time. this is what the government is trying to do. cant have the cake and eat it too. instead of being honest, throw up smokes-screen and try to please everyone with bs.

MU can not give credit to a Republican for keeping our nation safe
Chops....post hoc ergo propter hoc basically translates to "after this, therefore because of this"....a faulty logical statement for anyone who has taken Logic 101 but is used all too often in our society to justify the success or failure of something.
69...you know your logic is faulty.....just because we have used waterboarding since 9-11 does not necessarily correlate to no attacks against american civilian interests since 9-11....you should read or re-read Freakonomics.
I will give credit where credit is due, whether Republican or Democrat but to assert that the reason why there has been no civilian attacks on American since 9-11 is because we torture our prisoners is logically flawed.

THIS IS MY TAKE ON TERRORISTS-KILL THEM ALL AND LET GOD SORT THEM OUT.
if they are willing to blow themselves up in the name of allah and a few hundred innocent people, why the fuck can't we torture them? doesn't that get them extra virgins or something if they endure pain from the infidels? life is cheap.

I'm all for doing what needs to be done to get the truth out of these fucks but isn't this extreme? Not extreme treatment just extreme measures that would get people to say whatever just to get them to stop.
If I was being waterboarded I could only imagine the torture and I'd tell them anything just to get it to stop...........wouldn't the suspected terrorists do the same?
So if they have the wrong guy how does this technique actually lead to getting the truth out?

i'm not sure that i'm ready to concede that just because andarmac thinks he'd act in a certain way under conditions he never has and probably never will be exposed to, then all terrorists would do the exact same thing.
see above where mu talks about logic. i think your premise is a little off.
and if we have the wrong guy, no dobut waterboarding isn't just useless but counterproductive. there are going to be mistakes as there are in any job. there are surely people convicted of murder in jail who are innocent. i don't think anyone is going to argue that we should stop charging murderers. torturinfg for information is a system that is naturally flawed because of the human error element. it's also questionable because of the morailty issue. the question is whether or not it's worth it given the evolving nature of our enemies.
