How come it is based on your income? What right does the goverment have to tell me how much i should pay? Why is'nt there a standard amount everybody pays? Maybe between $150-$200 a week. Then all those high school dropouts will have to educations instead of paying $20 a week. Let them go to jail instead of somebody like me who might eventually fall behind someday. I know as guy who pays $12 a week and he owes over $9,000 and he went to court and never spent a day in jail. How can you justify that in front of a judge? I had to pay my ex $3K a month. So, got I back with her, didn't re-marry. But, we are living together with the kids. Its been 2 years now and the crazy thing is its actually really good. We havn't had one problem since we got back together. Kids are happy, she is happy, and I am happy. We were divorced for 2 years. No joke.

truth be told the guy does get fu**** 95% of the time. even if the mom is a total piece of sh**, she'll get the kids.
i know many people in this situation, occasionaly both parents can actually be adults, but a lot of times it is a hate/hate situation. the kids suffer most though.

I think the guide lines for child support are total bullshit. I'm married and don't have to deal with it, but my wife makes more than me and I would still have to give 25% of my salary if we split. So in my case everyone's lifestyles would stay the same except mine. The problem is that the courts have made it too easy to get divorced. Woman know exactly what they'll get. I bet my balls that if the courts always declared equal parenting time and less money, these divorces would decrease immensely.

At least you man up and pay. It sucks when you don't know if the money is going toward housing, clothes, food or other things. I know some people who pay up every month but don't see their children because the mother doesn't allow it...thats the real shame. Hopefully your situation isn't like that.

Read the thread better before you pass judgements. I never said it was a punishement to pay child support.
I actually agree with you because I read what you ACTUALLY said however you must understand that in a topic regarding children, you are going to get some sensitive zealout (sp?) like responses because it hit's home with some people.
