You are trying to tell me that these fisherman DETEST what they are doing, but are forced to because there is no other way to make money in japan.

The region of Japan that this film is set in is very rural.  I sincerely doubt that other than fishing there are many opportunities for solid jobs in that region.  

Yes Japan is a technologically advanced society with a good job market, and ideally they could find other employment, however if your family has lived in a certain rural area for generations than relocation is not always a given.

And yes, it would seem unlikely that anyone who blatantly DETESTS their job would stick with it instead of finding other employment, however plenty of people deal w/ BS jobs b/c they can't find other employment, so it would seem reasonable enough to assume that some of the fisherman depicted in this film could have similar thoughts.

While you arent contributing, you surely arent saving any animals' life. The animals are dying regardless if you went vegan in 2002 or not. That is my point. When you go to the market, the animal is already dead, you buy it you eat it. If you dont buy it, it will still have died. Im sure you get my point but I get yours also.
