I am from Connecticut and moved to Chicago and the pizza sucks.   I have to agree that CT pizza is the best.  NYC pizza is awesome but I still give the upper hand to CT.  ANd Chicago pizza sucks.  I love Deep dish but the pizza makers here have no clue how to make a pizza if it is not Deep dish.   People from Chicago will tell you different but it isn't even close.  I love Pepes.  There are lots of other good place outside New Haven.

If someone could bring good pizza to the Seattle area they'd get rich. Best place I know is right in my podunk town of Marysville..........Cristiano's.

  Only thing I miss about the east coast..................used to go to a little hole-in-the-wall in East Meadow,NY called Georgios..............great stuff.........I miss it.

Chicago pizza is by far the best, but like most places you must know where to go.

A place called The Back Room on the campus of Michigan was pretty damn good, and it stayed open late.
 
 
Chicago and NY are hard to beat though.

i cant think of the name of the place...but in Hoboken right when you get off the PATH, there's a shop across the street makes a top 5 slice for me

There was a big discussion on the Food Network about New York (thin) and Chicago (deep dish) styles of pizza.
 
My personal preference is thin, crunchy crust, and out here in the Bay Area in N.Cal, there is a place called Amici's that makes damn good pizza....

This thread began and ended with the original post.  Pepe's and Sally's are #1 & #2 in the country.  Libby's for dessert is a pro move as well.  Food Heaven.

Water is always important in cooking because it is usually a/the main ingredient.  Especially in crusts, breads, cookies etc.

The best pizza "chain" is Papa Murphy's.........They make the pizza, but they don't cook the pizza and then you take the pizza home and cook yourself in an oven.....Ingredients are fresh and good, sauce is good, crust is good, and by cooking yourself, you can remove, add, or adjust toppings......good shit.........Chicago's pizza is good also

lou malnati's in chicago is awesome.  also for a thinner crust pizza in chicago, go to bacci pizzeria.  there's was one by wrigley field right when you get off the subway, and another one is in downers grove.  it's not the same as ny style thin crust, but it is awesome... and the slice is huge!

loved lou malnatis. i also ate at a place down the street from the famous chicago theatre but too drunk to remember the name . deepest pizza i  have ever seen.

If you ever come to Canton for the HOF festivities (I highly recommend it) go to Pizza Oven.  I haven't ever been to NY or Chicago, but have tasted many pizzas, and Pizza Oven is the bomb.
