This lady was originally sentenced to 12 years as a first time offender. She got another 2 years added for ultra-stupidity and then later a judge knocked off 4 years.

This article from the same neck of the woods about a crime committed just 6 months prior.

To summarize, a twice previous DUI offender killed 2 people on her third offense. She was sentenced to 12 years for each count of manslaughter (consecutive). Since that is the punishment handed down then it must also be correct.

So according to the sentencing guidelines in Oklahoma, getting caught selling marijuana the first time is the equivalent of getting intoxicated and killing 1 person on a third DUI offense.

Yes, as it stands selling marijuana is illegal and if caught the offender must deal with the consequences. However, do you really believe that 12 years in this case is appropriate for the crime?

If it was your (and yours alone) responsibility to set sentences for all crimes, are you saying you would assign 12 years to this? If so, then what would you set for the manslaughter case referenced above?

Why is there such a thing as a prescription?Why do we have to ask permission to obtain a legal substance?Are the golf courses and country clubs that hard up?

because they need someway to validate the importance of the rent-seekers and the 1/4M they get soaked for that piece of paper that verifies that they know whats best.

Wall, isn't this sentence on a trivial offense a bit excessive? I respect and agree with your position on illegal substances but this particular case really does need intervention. My opinion anyway.

Well people like me and mine, of course! Hard working americans that like to kick back and burn one down after/during/before a long hard days work. What will they do when their dream comes true and half the population is in prison cells paying their debt to society for smoking (or selling) a joint of pot, and there's nothing but busybody's left outside to do all the work that keeps the world going.

No not at all, what i meant was you r not seeing the big picture on pot and what it can positively do for people..... and to take someones life away for somthing like pot is just foolish. So u just throw up ur hands and say well the gov. says its illegal they must be right and lets lock up everyone who is personally using this weed and throw away the key that will teach them..... actually it will not,going to prison will subjuect people to things that affect their life for good and may digress these people for no reason.
