Great thread, Apache. Thanks for bumping it. I copied it off for some of the people at work, and it brought tears to everyones eyes. I have a 13 year old female Tabby, who has been with me through all my trials.As hard as it will be, I will be with her at the end, because she has been there for me every time I needed her. THX everyone for the kind words, my Rat Terrier is getting worse but I try my best to be patient with her. I know she's deaf and now has very poor eyesight, but she still adores me as I do her.

August 17, 2005.  Commandment Ten was the worst day of my life, but would not be able to live with myself if I wasn't with her. Cancer forced me to put down my best friend.  RIP Tia (named after Tia Jackson of the Iowa Hawkeyes).  The pup in my avatar is one of Tia's decendents-Tatum.

Great thread love animals.  I am actually looking to get a dog. I think I will go over to my parents and walk their dog.

Some threads just need to be bumped..... I'm watching the rocket game and noticed the dogs and the cat are curled up without a worry in the world. If it's cold they come in, if it's rainin' they come in, if it's hot they come in, if it's nice out they stay out.'

Eat when they're hungry, drink when they're dry....what a life!!!!

When I die, I want to come back as my pet!!!!

Selective morality on covers once again...i witness it 50 times a day on here and 500 times a day in real life

Let's review:

It is immoral to even strike your dog because it shows blind loyalty due to the fact you give it shelter, attention and feed it. 'Commandment 8' goes so far as to put dog's on such a pedestal it rebukes verbal scolding.

BUT (and this is for all chicken eaters)

It is not immoral to put chicken in a coop with 1000's of others, let them live in complete darkness for 45 days wandering aimlessly, let them grow at such a quick pace their legs can fracture and they will spend the rest of their time on earth rolling around in other chickens' shit... have the owner come in a chuck corn feed at them... and mix it with their shit as well for consumption (scrumptious)...then after the 49th day, round them all up ASAP breaking wings, necks, legs (who cares! they're goin in your mouth anyway!!)... put them in crates that can barely hold pints of milk, ship these living creatures over the road to a slaughterhouse, string them up by their feet and run their neck across an unattended blade...proceed to watch them bleed to death...if their lucky they'll die...if not, and there's a lot of 'if nots' on that assembly line of carcasses, they'll be finished off by being run through a shower of scolding hot water which removes their feathers...still alive? not to worry...the next step is gutting and then you'll be dead for sure...

Why? So modern man, man that has a myriad of menu choices that doesn't involve animals, can have a shitty fucking chicken sandwich...now if that isn't the most pathetic fuckin tradeoff i've ever heard, I don't know what is...

does a post this spark outrage and insult?  OF COURSE. Because the average middle-class guy in America wants his KFC because they do chicken right and he won't settle for anything less!!!

Give these little suckers a tail and soft fur you can run your hand over and the ability to play fetch and the original post is about chickens and dogs...

would you want a chicken as a house pet?

do you think if the chicken liked the taste of human and could easily hunt us down and eat us that it would let some contorted sense of dis-reasoning get in the way of his meal?

That's your defense/justification for eating meat?

Ironic you have a swan as an avatar...you'll appreciate its beauty in a serene environment, but if its flesh appeases your taste buds and appetite, you will have little problem having its neck hacked off, having it plucked, gutted, roasted and shoved down your own throats in a carnivorous euphoric trance...the neck hacking, plucking, and gutting you'll have someone else do of course while you stand in the corner with your back turned and eyes closed..which symbolically represents what you actually do when you fail to witness to the full preparation

Scalabrine, I think you need to re-read this list again, because it could also apply to a pet chicken. That list doesn't say anything at all about it being specific to a dog.

scalabrine.....If you want to be a Vegan that's fine, but meat is part of human food. Every bird and animal God put on this Earth has a purpose. Some are prey and some are preyed on. Just part of the food chain.

BTW..I wonder who was the first to see a chicken and say,"Im' goin' to eat whatever comes outta its butt.

Eggs Don't come outta Chickens Butts. Shit does. You need to speak to your butcher.

I'm sure many of mans early food habits were learned by watching what other animals do. Stealing eggs for food is as old as the hills themselves.

Apache......thanks for posting this.........I've seen it before........& I've had many great "friends" over the years..........it hurts to see them go. My kids want me to get another dog.............but I live alone...........I try to explain to them that it wouldn't be fair to get another friend & leave him/her here all alone everyday..............but it's tempting...........I love dogs

 I'm keepin' my son's Lab and Border Collie for 4 days. They're fun, but Geezz they eat alot and love the pool.
