The defense continues to be extremely dominant, holding Missouri to only 12 points, 2 of which came as the result of a safety from an errant long snap during a Nebraska punt. The defense kept Nebraska in the game, as the offense could not produce in the wet conditions until the 4th quarter. At that point, it appears the rain began to lessen, traction improved, and two interceptions by the Husker defense helped Nebraska to score 27 unanswered points for the win... and the cover.
There has been some talk since the game that QB Zac Lee's performance in big games has been sketchy. It's hard to gauge the accuracy of those speculations, as his first less-than-stellar performance was against the same VT defense that held Miami QB Jacory Harris to 9-25 passing. The second poor performance was against Missouri in 5 inches of rain. Part of that performance can be attributed to the wet conditions, so it's hard to tell what the actual situation may be.
On RB Roy Helu Jr's last run of the game, he scored a short yardage touchdown, running in untouched. Yet he ran to the sidelines clutching his shoulder. The injury may have occured on the previous play, where he broke a long yardage run to set up the TD, although he gave no indication he was hurt. The local media has reported that there is no news yet regarding the seriousness of the injury.
As far as Texas Tech is concerned, I have nothing but questions. I have not seen them play more than 10 minutes of football this year. They seem to play well against bad teams and at home. Their two losses have come against Texas and Houston on the road. This seems to play in Nebraska's favor. Does anyone know how good their defense really is? How good is their O-line?
Nebraska will undoubtably hold them to a lower level of scoring than they're used to. The question is, is their defense good enough to keep the Huskers at bay.
It will be interesting to see where the line is set, and where they set the over/under.

I love Nebraska in this spot. The reason why is they held Missouri to only 12 points at Missouri and they went in and cover the spead at V-Tech. Their defense is playing outstanding. Texas Tech has not inpress me all year long on the road. This is going to be one of my big plays for the week. Good luck to all.

I was hoping line would be under 7 and it looks like it is...I will continue to back my huskers here. Lots of bad memories against tech the last few years, but this is in Lincoln, and husker d is dominating - the D line is top 2-3 in the country, and the secondary is getting better and better - coaches have made some changes at the corners putting in JC transfer gomes and RF denard and they made immediate impacts against missouri. Huskers need to get running game going better, and zac lee is streaky so far in big games, but I will put this on the Husker D against tech - huskers get it done by 14-17 points

Lee looked great in the three Sun-Belt home games but was shaky on the road against good competition as mentioned above. I think he has skill but is very emotional and needs to stay under control during both good and bad. He is a JC transfer who put up big numbers but hasn't been on the big stage. Shawn Watson does have confidence in him. It was mentioned locally that he was close to putting the backup in during the 3rd quarter but gave Lee the vote of confidence (thank God). I feel that this game is going to either break him or be a watershed moment that shows he has what it takes to at least be a decent Big 12 QB. Because all they really need right now from him is decent.
This line move must mean Vegas is nervous they will lose their ass at around -7 but who knows with the mind fucks they put on people (see Bama-Ol' Miss)

which TT qb is going to start? potts stayed out last week bc of a concussion and the back qb did very good with 7tds......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 11 points is a lot to lay.

I don't think Potts has a chance in hell of starting this game. Tech has a different spirit with Sheffield at the helm. They are really clicking and Nebraska's Defense won't be able to shut them down. As far as the defense goes, it is getting healthier and better week to week. They are an up and down defense. They allow big plays but on the flip side make big plays as well. The O-line is not great, but with Brandon Carter back they are good enough with a mobile Sheffield under center.
This will be a telling game for both squads. I think 10 is a good number, but Neb with the homefield advantage and the better Defense will get most of the money, but not mine. No play.

Dont be fooled...Nebraska still remembers the 70-10 pounding the Red Raiders handed them a few years back in Lubbock. Im sure Tom Osborne is whispering into Bo Pelini's ear "POUND THE FUCK OUT OF THEM!"...ok maybe that was yelling, but you get the point. Potts better pray Leach doesnt start him on Saturday, because if he does Suh will be handing him another concussion. And if its Sheffield, you better hope u can get out of the way of the big man....Huskers roll by at least 2 touchdowns, maybe more...

Freshman RB Burkhead out with an injured foot for awhile (whisper number says 4-6 weeks). Not the main back (helu is), but Burkhead is a hell of a football player seeing time as punt and kick returner, and RB - it will hurt, as the 3, 4, and 5 RB's behind Helu are completely untested. I think Texas Tech is going to be a big challenge and will be a much tougher test then missouri offense was. I got mine in at -6.5 and I like it...the number at 10 now is a bit tougher to call....

Heard this rhetoric in 2005. They were going to crush Tech for the 70-10 beat down in Lubbock. Final, 34-31 Tech. Nebraska does not have the offense for any kind of a blowout. Nebraska has covered 6 in a row. Time for a L. When it seems so obvious, it goes the other way.
Tech +11

Although I do agree that the Husker D is the best the Red Raiders has
faced or will face this year, and the Huskers are at home, and Texas
Tech hasn't exactly shined on the road this year... I don't like being
favored by this much, and am gonna look for easier plays.
If I had to bet, I'd go with the over, but I still don't like it. I think it'll look something like 34-27 Nebraska. I think that's going to be the extent of the Texas Tech scoring, and I'll give the Tech D some respect against the Husker O. If the Husker D looks bad, or the Red Raider D looks like I expect, then the over should be good.

You're looking at a unstoppable force meeting with an immovable object. Tech's top offense meeting a powerful defense. That stuff didnt fly last year and it wont this time. With SUH and the gang that d will destroy tech. Nebraska has already had their letdown-V Tech and their triumphant comeback-mizz. 37-21
