Stanford came off a bye week and lost at Washington, failing to score an offensive touchdown. Then, at home, get into a shootout with the no-defense, all offense Zona cats, winning in OT. This week they fly over a couple time zones and take on an Irish defense that has been pissing on opponents dreams.
Cards depend on the legs of Taylor to open up the passing game which if we ignore the no defense Zona game and Duke, is generating under 200 yds a game (170). ND is 18th against the run and 2nd in scoring defense. 18th isn't great but it does come against people named Denard and Bell and the Navy wishbone. Irish have yet to allow a TD on the ground. Nunes will need to move the chains. Andrew Luck he aint.
Irish on offense are efficient and that's probably the best thing we can say. They don't turn the ball over or commit too many penaties... but. Golson continues to improve but he aint Andrew Luck. The running game looked good vs Miami but Miami's defense sucks. It won't help the ground game going against Stanford's 7th ranked run defense. Stanford's secondary surrendered 500 yards in the air to Zona.
I wonder if Vegas dares to set the total on this one at 40 or less? I would probably still take the under. If the ND haters take the line down to 6.5, I'll take the Irish.

Stanford's defense is physical and may make this a low scoring slugfest making the 9 points pretty large. I think ND wins the game SU but the 9 points looks about right. Slight lean to ND because they are at home, need to look at the under in this one. Small play on a straight bet, ND on a teaser looks like a better way to bet this one.

i disagree Oahu - N Dame has signicant weapons on O, and good D...Stan is pretty dmensional on O as demonstrated in the UW loss...N Dame will dare Stan to pass...I think this will be a tight game, and 7 seems like a lot in a rivalry game. probably a no play for me, but I think N Dame wins this game at home and has a good shot to cover...
