Leaning towards the Hawkeyes +7.5.  They play a lot of tight ballgames and the home crowd should be fired up.  This could be a slightly higher-scoring version of PSU-OSU (maybe something like 21-17 PSU).

Scoopy if that is you in your avatar, then you're as dumb as you look.

The Big Ten won't be playing in the BCS CG, but Penn State will.  F.k.a. "The Beast of the East."  The same team that beat Texas A&M and Tennessee in their last two bowl games.  So much for "southern speed."



Back to this game, it may indeed be close, but I'm giving the 7.5 before it goes higher.  PSU coming off a bye week, and noticing how the SEC and Big 12 teams play their starters into the 4th quarter of blowout games is enough motivation for a convincing win.

Come on now Scoopy you should know better than to say that.... PSU is not one of those big 10 teams that go into bowl games and get blown away. In fact they usually win. I could be wrong but I wouldn't want to be the team that has to face the Lions if they happen to make it to the big show. It will certainly be smash mouth football.  By the way don't bet against the Lions in this one. PSU - 34          Iowa - 16

Love PSU in this spot.  Bye week.  Some additional incentive after the polls came out.  

Stanzi will be in trouble all day and give the Lions extra posessions.

The crowd and Kinnick will keep it close for a bit but Stanzi and superioor talent in all phases will help PSU win it going away.

Hi all, Penn St. is for real, Joe is getting old and he wants this one bad.  They are a much  better team in all  aspects and will get the job done.

no my last statement is why i like iowa i think shonn greene will have a big day and control the clock and the defense will make some plays

so you think maybe Joe Pa, in his 2 weeks of preparation, didn't notice that Shonn Greene is Iowa's whole offense?  maybe Penn St will come out in pass coverage on first down and give Iowa a nice soft belly to run into? 
 
that sure would be a break for Iowa... cuz if it were me, i would stack the line of scrimmage and make Iowa throw the ball every single play... because if they throw the ball 30+ times, about 6 of them will be interceptions, and 2 of those will result in PSU TDs... and if they're lucky, 1 will result in an Iowa TD...
 
but Joe Pa doesn't know what he's doing, so he probably won't figure that out!  but lucky for him, he still has the far superior athletes, and has had 2 weeks to put togtether whatever cockamamee schemes he comes up with, so they should still have a fighting chance against an over-rated Big 10 team that's biggest selling point seems to be that they find a way to lose only by a little bit...

penn state big, i am a hawkeye fan, not enuff offense to compete with penn st., 27-10 lions, remember they beat bucks by 10 at ohio state

I respect Paterno as much as the next guy, but Joe Pa doesn't do "prep work" at his age.  All his assistants do the gameplanning and breaking down film for an opponent.  He's a glorified mascot with a headset, and now that he's off the sidelines he does even less.
 
It'd be a great story to see him get a title and all that fun stuff, but give credit to where credit is due...to the rest of the Penn State coaching staff.
 
As far as this game goes, I'm taking the points.  I love going against teams that just came off their "game of the year" victories.  I don't care about the bye week in between.  Ask USC how their bye week helped them out earlier this year.  Penn State could be in serious danger here.  I was expecting a double digit line for this game...Vegas is going to draw a lot of Penn State money here, but not from me.

Penn State continues playing championship caliber football.

Clark's concussion has be the reason this line is so low, but two weeks is more than enough time to recover... either way, if devlin gets the start they win by 14 instead of 24 and still cover easily
