Wow, I want to jump on this game before the spread goes up.  Not sure why it is only -3, I know Illinois is playing well this season, but they shouldn't be able to hang with Penn State, or at least that close

Illinois seems outmatched here. now i dont know much about their team, but penn state looks like they can cover this one easy. thier Defense held michigan to 15 points, yeah their offense didnt score but they had a bad day. now penn state just lost and they should know now that they cannot lose if they want any contention for the Big Ten Title. im thinking penn state wins by at least 2 touchdowns. what do you guys think?

I'm a Penn State fan, and I would advise to hold off before jumping on this too soon.  ILL gave PS a battle last year, outgained them significantly.  The PS offense was so sluggish on Sat., it is hard to envision them running away from anyone.  We'll see if they can rebound from a tough road loss... it's a young team.

Is this a joke?? Illinois is good this year and all, but PSU is a good football team. Penn State covers easily.

Home dog with very young athletes and the public all over the team that just lost on the road last week....back on the road again????? Look out.....Arrelius Benn could catch the game winner.......ILL hung with them in Happy Valley last year????

I read this comment/logic earlier on another thread about this game but forgot what poster mentioned it (I think it was Lindetrain??)..anyway...it made sense to me. 
 
So PSU spots Michigan -3 at the big house and gets beat...Now PSU goes on the road again to ILL and again is spotting -3?????  So ILL is on par with MICH based on the line??.... Something stinks here...Give me ILL +3 all day...and the ML for the matter

wow, ILL is getting 3 for this game, that's ridiculous, i'm jumping on this before the line corrects itself. Even JoePa thinks the ILL defense is better then last year.

There is no way that ILL should be getting this kind of respect.  I made a homer post on the Indiana vs ILL game last week, but deep down I knew that the game was too good to be true.  Indiana was getting points at home, definitely shifty.  Penn State circles the wagons and beats an inferior football team, no comparison to Michigan in the big house.  ILL shouldn't be said in the same sentence as Michigan.

I would blow off the Louisville pick - even on a teaser.  LOU's D is the worst, and NC St is better than the 'Cuse.  I'm not even sure PS works in a teaser in this situation.  But good luck on your picks.

I am sure my perception is clouded because I was at the PS-ILL game last year.  While PS won, it was a sloppy game and PS was outgained significantly.  Juice Wms gave them problems, and ILL can run the ball.  Zook has them playing for him, they believe.  Their one loss was early to a good MO team.  Besides MI just wrote a blueprint on how to beat PS last week.

I would not bet against PS here, but will probably stay away from this one.  I would definitely look at the under -- 46.5 seems about a TD too high.

Danstyk... agree wholeheartedly. Last week I stayed away from Mich/PSU and played the over (missed by that pesky .5). This week I'll be playing the under and thanking my lucky stars when JoPa runs off the field with oxygen support.

And if we are looking at all into the trends this early.. the pre-season middle of the pack and bottom of the barrel Big 10 teams are the ones coming up big.

I find this interesting... a Centre Daily Times poll on who fans think will win this game on Sat.  Keep in mind it is probably all PSU fans voting:

This game could be an upset special in the waiting.

My bro danstyk pointed out very good reasons why Illinois should not be taken lightly in this game.

In last seasons game Illinois actually had a better offensive production than Penn St. out gaining them 358yds to 184yds of total offense. In the first half of the game Penn St. was out gained 209yds to 96yds of total offense.

Illinois had a 9-3 third qtr lead only to be taken away by costly turnovers deep in Penn St. territory. Ron Zook actually brought this Illinois team to a better level of play and IMO this Illinois team should not be taken lightly esp at home.

My lean is on Illinois

Makes sense BigDaddy, but keep in mind I gave reasons to take ILL seriously, not necessarily bet on them.  I am not betting either side here.  But I do think the Under is a good play here at -45.5.  Last year's game was 38 pts., and I see a similar result.  PSU's D is stronger this year, but their O is still getting untracked due to no Tony Hunt this year.  ILL will try to run it all game with Mendenhall and also the QB Juice. 

Under 45.5 is what I would focus on.

Just noticed ILL does not have one player on the injury report.  You don't see that often.  PSU is pretty healthy too.

BigD, if you want to take ILL, do me a favor and take them at the half, not final.  This makes more sense as PS is notorious for starting slow if not outright flat.  They are a 2nd half team, not one to put up a lead and go prevent.

PSU is the better team, hands down.  If I thought ILL could win the game outright, I would bet on them, but I don't so PSU is the play.  As far as danstyk, Why are you wasting your time posting on this forum if you are not going to bet on the game?  You can do whatever you want with your time, I just don't see the point.  if you don't like it, why give one opinion over the other?  make your play or don't, don't waste my time with a possible over/under bet.  Sorry for the rant, I just don't like railbirds giving their opinion and not making a move.

I Am Rolling With Penn St Will Be A Little Oh Oh Did I Say A Little They Will BE BIG TIME Upset After Last Weeks Lost Since This Game Is In Illinios And They Play On Turf Penn St Is Even Faster Then When They Play At Home On Grass.  This Game Will Be Close For About 2 And A Half Quarter Then Penn St Pulls Away 27-14.
