Why would Texas even care if OU were down or not? It is not relevant. This is the biggest game of the year for both teams. It is the game they both been preparing for since Spring Practice. Texas knows that Texas has not played NC caliber ball YTD. They know from the early 2000s if they take OU lightly and if they are not prepared, OU will destrou them. OU knows the same from the 2005 contest. The fear of being schooled by your arch rival is motivation enough to come with your A+ game. And both OU and Texas will come with their A games.
You have tom osbourne avatar, but you don't sound very knowledgeable about this rivarly or even OU and Texas seasons to date. OU does not have the O punch that it did last year. Iglesis, Grisham et al were lights out...If you did happen to catch the Baylor game, you saw WR's unsure of themselves (10-15 drops) an overrated running game, and a couragious but unsettled (sometimes limping off the field) Bradford. The D was descent against a Baylor O without their best player... Texas played like crap in the first half, and at times the sputtering of the O has been disapoiting.
So a 5-0 Texas who hasn't played anyone is not as good as a 2 loss OU team (in the BYU game if I recall, OU was favored by 21). You would think a powerhouse like OU could plug in a backup and still win the game on a neutral field as a 21 point favorite, but they couldn't even do that...
Texas will go full throttle against an outstanding on Saturday. OU was the favorite last year and had one of the most explosive offenses in college football history, yet Texas outscored them. Everyone says that Quan Cosby was the reason we beat OU last year. Yes, he was a great player and a clutch WR, yet he went undrafted in April. I guess he wasn't that good afterall.
Texas is hungry. Texas got screwed by the idiodic BCS system last year and was supplanted in the Conference and NC game by an undeserving team. If anyone wants to inflict some payback, open a can of whoopass, pick your cliche, it is Texas my friend...
