To be made clear, someone named "peppto", evidently made punch drunk by the hurricanes hitting in and out of the Cayman Islands, logs on to muster one pathetic retort in Philip Rivers; a quarterback that will never see 4000 yards passing in a season, never toss more than 28 TDs, and has a lifetime QB rating of 86.6.
Now, he's been masquaraded, and held the starting position this while due to the play of LaDanian Tomlinson. Rivers is a farce, and the only means of the Titans keeping it close is due to his sorry play.

also don't forget that his only productive season was after norm chow got his hands on him.

Offenses struggle with long layoffs.  speed kills.  Teams get better playing superior competion, -all this adds up to VT at the half and game.

You all may laugh at me. But a sick way to look at this game would be TV ratings and endorsements. My understanding is the bowls are not being watched very much according to TV ratings.

Additionally if you look at the past 3 bowl years here are the teams and the tv rating result.

2007 Louisville vs Wake Forest    Rating of 7.1
2006 Penn State vs FSU                           12.3
2005 USC vs OKL.                                    13.7

You look at 2006 & 2006 the games are sexier, better matchups. Last years was a bore. To watch as well, hence no one watching.

If you are sick like me and you think Vegas, and the bowl committee, and the endorsers are all in it for their take.

You will realize that this is going to be a good, close, hard fought, but high scoring game.  Points=Ratings!!!

Especially after the last 3 major bowl game schlackings. USC vs. Ill., Hawaii vs. GA, and WVU vs. OKL.   BORING!!!

stats can be misleading to everyone when this is just one game for the win.  Kansas' offense is very good and they can still play defense in this one game.

when you look at both of these teams, it is closer than you think.  Emotion is gonna play the # 1 role

Stay away fish naked. ER is nice, but he's either boom or bust as a WR. But he was part of my non-ST's scoring thinking.

IMHO this is a battle between 2 of the top defenses of the season. The offense that can find any weakness on the other’s defense should win this game.

Kansas is loaded with playmakers with QB Reesing to his WRs Marcus Henry and Dexton Fields. The only problem is that Kansas will have to gameplan around the Hokies talented LBs and CB Brandon Flowers who has five interceptions on the year.

QB Glennon of V-Tech will have to play mistake-free football along with WR Justin Harper who got basically shut down by FSU defense back in November. When the offense cannot put any points on the board they are backed by a special teams & defensive unit that can take it to the house when given the chance.

If QB Todd Reesing's offensive line can buy him some time he should have plenty of room to stretch the Hokies’ defense and find room to throw in the seams.

IMO this should be typical Beamer ball type of game. I feel that Kansas will gameplan the same way. This will be the battle of which offense can dominate the time of possession.

When ever I feel that it will be a defensive battle in a close game I prefer to take the points. I will take the points in the first half of this game only because Beamer should be able to make the adjustments at halftime if needed.

V-Tech final ( no wager ) just want them to win

I'm still up in the air about tonight.  I'm leaning towards Kansas however.

This isn't your typical VTECH team.  Some are commenting on the loss of Ore for the first quarter.  I'm really not sure that's a big deal.  In the games I've watched this season, Ore has been weak at best.  He's slow to hit the hole, doesn't make people miss and goes down easily.  He has not had a good season.  This isn't a dominant VTECH offensive line either.  A lot of teams have stuffed their running game.  The truth is, the VTECH passing game has really come on this  season and that has been the biggest key in their offensive production.  The qb has been accurate and VTECH has very good wr's.  Of course they bring in the freshman qb to run the ball and he's very athletic.  He does however carry the ball around with little security, he makes you nervous.  If you get guys to fly around him, he can be stripped of the ball.

The VTECH  defense has been solid for most of the season.  I know many people are pointing towards their success against Ryan in the first  game and that they  beat Ryan in the second game.  Let's not forget however,  BC didn't have the kind of wr's that could beat you deep.  BC thrived on throwing to the backs and underneath.  A lot of BC's big plays this year came when Ryan got out of the pocket, bought time and allowed a wr to come open down field.  VTECH didn't really face any other really strong passing games this season, certainly none that can compete with  the one Kansas has.

The truth  is, I've seen way more of VTECH than I have Kansas.  I know Kansas has been a cover machine and only have one loss.  I did take Missouri to beat them and while the final score got kinda close, the game was never really in doubt.  I know it's going to be windy and there could be rain.  I'm not sure how much that could impact the Kansas qb.  I know he's a smaller guy, does that mean he has smaller hands?  I don't recall Kansas playing in the rain this season.  I thought the VTECH qb played fairly well against BC in the rain.

Everyone is talking about the VTECH defense vs the Kansas offense, but how many times have we seen  games come down to the other  much less talked  about match up?  I think the key to the game  will be the Kansas defense vs the VTECH offense.  I have a feeling that Kansas will have some success on offense.  How much success will VTECH have?  Will VTECH have a running game  tonight?  Will the Kansas secondary  be able to contain the VTECH wr's?

VTECH hasn't been great in bowls recently.  Some may think that provides more motivation for this year.  Well I thought the same thing about Oklahoma last night which was embarrassed.  The Big 12 has outperformed the  ACC in bowls, but how much does that matter considering how pathetic the Big East had been until WVU last night?

I like Kansas to win close.  They have thrived in the underdog role all season and want to validate their season with a big win in the Orange Bowl.  I believe they have a good enough offense to move the ball on VTECH (BC moved the  ball well on  VTECH in the ACC Championship and would have scored more with a kicking game) and I think the Kansas defense is uderrated.  They struggled a little against Missouri, but Daniels is one of the best qb's in college football and we all  saw how good the Missouri rb is in the Cotton Bowl.  I think the Kansas defenses slows down VTECH just enough.

Kansas 27 VTECH 24

Completely agree with you on this one BigDaddy...that's why I just look for the regulars and read what they have to say.  If you have less than 100 posts, I don't want to hear it!!  When it comes to my hard earned money you have to earn the respect, not just throw out random opinions and trash talking.

As far the game itself, its tough because my initial instincts have been getting killed the past couple nights  (hawaii and oklahoma)...but I really can't see Kansas being able to move the ball against the Va Tech defense.  IMO, I see Kansas showing up to this game much like Hawaii did.  A school not really known for football in a big time bowl game against a great overall team.  The spread offense is a nice wrinkle, but experience usually trumps all, and experienced defenses are tough to pass up.

Va Tech -3 and OVER 50-------Risk 1 to win 2.35

Va Tech won two convincing games over Virginia and BC in their last two games, both away from home.  Kansas has not beat a quality opponent since A&M in October.

I think this will be a close game with high numbers. VT certainly has the emotion on their side but that will only provide so much help. I agree with eightfoldpass, even with the wet weather this one is an over. I did a 7 point tease taking kansas to +10 and the over to 44.
This is my first post and I wanted to say thanks to all this year for all the insight that has been provided.
