For all you with good analysis thank you. There is still some great info here. I agree with those picking VT for all reasons stated above and the fact that they deserve this after the terrible tragedy they suffered this summer.

HEY UP99, this will be the last time I respond to you. I have been following this site for several months and I have yet to see a post from you that makes an educated point on a game. I think most of us on here are looking reasons to play one side or another. There is nothing worse then someone stating someone sucks, or I like XYZ team w/o giving a reason behind your pick. Give an opinion or go play on a dating chat page. What you don't know is that most of us that do know something about F-ball don't take any post that aren't back by an explanation serious. Your the typical Monday morning QB, easy to pick em the next day...Prove me wrong and tell me why Kansas' is going to win.

Time for my official pick, with the WV and the over hitting yesterday, I'm a combined 21-8 in all of my bowl picks this bowl season so hopefully I hope to make it 23-8 with my play tonight...
Ok, I've done all the research I could possibly due thanks mostly due to this site and both school sites, along with ESPN and CBSSportsline and really what I've noticed is that VTech's offense has improved tremendously once Beamer installed freshman QB Tyrod Taylor more into the offense giving them a dual threat option with Glennon being more of the throwing QB. In the last 4 games, VTech has score 40, 44, 33 and 30 pts and two of those games were @Virg, and @BC so I must give VTech some credit here. Furthermore, look at what this team has done in the 4TH QUARTER of these games!! VTech in the 4th quarter of all 4 of these games have scored 20, 14, 10, and 14 pts in the 4th quarter and essentially put teams away like good teams should do against (I've said this before) mediocre ACC teams like BC and Virginia.
Now, I'm also gonna give you some additional game info in the 4th to kinda prove my point.....in the first of this 4 game run that VTech has had, they were down 21-20 going into the 4th against FSU, scored 20 straight to win it 41-21. Miami game they won easily like they should have but they again shut down Miami to 0 pts in the 4th. In the Virginia game, they were only up 2 (23-21 at the end of 3), then scored 10 WHILE STILL GIVING UP 0 and won 33-21. Finally, in the ACC Championship game against BC, it was a 16-16 game going into the 4th, and VTech scored 14 pts WHILE STILL GIVING UP 0 PTS IN THE 4TH QUARTER!!! They win 30-16.
I must say when I saw this I was amazed at this run that VTech has had in the 4th quarter and honestly, I think VTech plays better late when the game gets into a nip and tuck game early. Thus, as I said yesterday, that I needed to do more research and really this was it to turn my bet the other way. I know I've been preaching Kansas the entire time but I usually don't do in-depth research of individual games until the day of the game, so I was never aware of these facts until now....

OK couldn't handle the speed of WV's D-line (or anything for that matter) last night. Does anyone know anything other than the stats about VT's O-Line and KU D-Line?

I'm still up in the air about tonight. I'm leaning towards Kansas however.
This isn't your typical VTECH team. Some are commenting on the loss of Ore for the first quarter. I'm really not sure that's a big deal. In the games I've watched this season, Ore has been weak at best. He's slow to hit the hole, doesn't make people miss and goes down easily. He has not had a good season. This isn't a dominant VTECH offensive line either. A lot of teams have stuffed their running game. The truth is, the VTECH passing game has really come on this season and that has been the biggest key in their offensive production. The qb has been accurate and VTECH has very good wr's. Of course they bring in the freshman qb to run the ball and he's very athletic. He does however carry the ball around with little security, he makes you nervous. If you get guys to fly around him, he can be stripped of the ball.
The VTECH defense has been solid for most of the season. I know many people are pointing towards their success against Ryan in the first game and that they beat Ryan in the second game. Let's not forget however, BC didn't have the kind of wr's that could beat you deep. BC thrived on throwing to the backs and underneath. A lot of BC's big plays this year came when Ryan got out of the pocket, bought time and allowed a wr to come open down field. VTECH didn't really face any other really strong passing games this season, certainly none that can compete with the one Kansas has.
The truth is, I've seen way more of VTECH than I have Kansas. I know Kansas has been a cover machine and only have one loss. I did take Missouri to beat them and while the final score got kinda close, the game was never really in doubt. I know it's going to be windy and there could be rain. I'm not sure how much that could impact the Kansas qb. I know he's a smaller guy, does that mean he has smaller hands? I don't recall Kansas playing in the rain this season. I thought the VTECH qb played fairly well against BC in the rain.

The Big 12 has outperformed the ACC in bowls, but how much does that matter considering how pathetic the Big East had been until WVU last night?
I like Kansas to win close. They have thrived in the underdog role all season and want to validate their season with a big win in the Orange Bowl. I believe they have a good enough offense to move the ball on VTECH (BC moved the ball well on VTECH in the ACC Championship and would have scored more with a kicking game) and I think the Kansas defense is uderrated. They struggled a little against Missouri, but Daniels is one of the best qb's in college football and we all saw how good the Missouri rb is in the Cotton Bowl. I think the Kansas defenses slows down VTECH just enough.
