Hawaii at Georgia (01/01/2008)

I did NOT cite a come-from behind win against Vanderbilt to prove Georgia’s worth.  Georgia is one of the top 5 teams in the country and there is no need to prove their worth.

I cited it because Irisheyez made the idiotic comment that Georgia wouldn’t be able to come back if they fell behind.  So I cited the Vanderbilt game, among six others, to prove him wrong.

Now if you want to see someone citing a win over an inferior opponent in an attempt to prove their team’s worth, look no further than one of the above posts from Irisheyez.  His quote:

“and then storming back and keeping thier cool against the only team to beat that Boise team in the prior 2 years(Washington)”

Bragging about a come-from behind home win against a 4-9 team.  Kind of pathetic when it comes to that.

I think Irisheyez pretty much lost any credibility he may had with folks when he made that absurd post.  Talk about shouting "I am a football retard"!!  As stated earlier, have a different opinion, but bring something intelligent to the discussion.  Guy has an agenda I guess.

Maui is just a fan and you can understand the passion he has for his team.  As he said, he only saw UGA play once, and that was early in one of their two losses.  Not very representative of what will be on the field Tuesday.  Kudos to him for being supportive, I just hope he doesn't bet money he needs for something else.  These opportunities don't come along every month/year.  I guess the ESPN talking heads helped hype this up as an "upset special" and some are blinded by stats without looking at where those stats were gained.  CB is good, and he and his receivers have great communication.  They will be a force because they are unconventional, but they are VERY one dimensional and how does UGA not have an answer for that?  And what answer does the Hawaii defense have for what they will face.?

For the second time… I cited the Vanderbilt game, along with six others, to prove Irisheyez wrong when he said Georgia couldn’t come-from behind to win.

Irisheyez cited the Washington game in an attempt to prove how good Hawaii is.

What you don't see is the success of shovel passes and drop-offs to Hawaii's one-set backs.  Hawaii has 1,000 yds combined of simple run plays, but you can add on another 800 yds of dumps to RB's and you got almost 2,000 yds of run.

 

There has been nothing but disdain for Hawaii all year long from the majority of the media.  I don't see how game-hype for the Sugar Bowl vs decades of SEC-hype can sway the average bettor over to Hawaii.

Maui, get out of the sun, son.  You are mixing and matching posts, and replying to selected phrases.  Look, there is not disdain about Hawaii.  For God's sake man, you are in a BCS Bowl.  How is that disrespect?  We all acknowledge your offense is potent due to your passing game.  The silence you hear after that is because.....hello? that is all you can say.  I was being nice when I said your offense was one-dimensional.  I could have said your running game was non-existent.  80 yards a game against the 118th or 137th (you pick) toughest schedule in a 119 team field.  Come on.  Pilares has had 61 running carries in 12 games. 

 We all understand you use short passes for your version of the running game, but surely you understand that frees the defense up to play differently since there is basically no running game to defend.  I know you will score some, but frankly, you will have to earn the respect come Tuesday.  No more sitting on a message board whining about respect.  You want respect, play somebody that fans have heard of, and win......for decades!  As I said earlier, fine to be a fan of Hawaii, but act like you understand the game.  As Coach hawkins said, "This is Division 1 football".  After this game you will be whining about having to travel so far, how you came within 21 points, your pitiful budget, yada, yada, yada.  Earn it, then come brag about it.

I'm just saying that Georgia is gonna be the heavy public play here.....the whole season has been racked with teams playing with teams they shouldn't......Hawaii is going to be, IMO, one of the most motivated teams of the bowl season!!!  Geogia, isn't really playing for anything.......sure it is the Sugar Bowl......but they have nothing to win!!!!  If they roll......."then they should have"........if they get beat...."then it's the upset of the bowl season".......they are the ones in the tough spot!!  God help that secondary trying to stop Rivers, Bess and the boys.  There isn't anybody in the SEC running anything even remotely close to what June's boys do!?!?!? The closest thing to it might be Kentucky.......and that's not even close in philosophy.  

 

I know that Hawaii hasn't played a very tough schedule on paper......but what they did against Boise(who had 1 lose in two years and a BCS win over the Sooners coming into that game) and then storming back and keeping thier cool against the only team to beat that Boise team in the prior 2 years(Washington).......with size and athletism similar to what they will see playing the 4th or 5th best team in the SEC, IS VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! I LOVE THE POINTS!!  

 

And yes......LSU, Tenn, Florida, are better than this Georgia team.  Just one mans opinion.......limit Georgia's run game.....get up on them early......and Stradford isn't going to be rallying that team from behind.  Just some food for thought my friends!!

 

Sorry about the long right up......Georgia has just got under my skin this year.......I think it is the best team Hawaii could have drawn for the way June's boys play ball!!  They will just have to limit those two backs the Dawgs will run at them all day.

I definitely have no hatred towards Hawaii.  My only beef was with the above thread by irisheyez.  And since I picked it apart, I no longer have any beef.

You were being....nice?  No, lord Macallan, you were being ignorant of Hawaii's offense.  We have no running game?  Favoring the pass en lieu of the run is not the same as having no running game.

Finally, I am not lamenting Hawaii's bad press, I am rebutting your claim that Hawaii is being played up by the media.  We are not.  We have not.  We never will be.  Thanks for proving my...disproving your...ah...never mind.

Now, to mix and match.  I took a beating  against Alabama today.  Mr. "This is division 1 fyootball" decided not to show up for a bowl game.

I don't balame you.  I can assure you if I am wrong about this game, I will come back and admit I was wrong and congratulate the winners (no apologies though, because it isn't an attempt to mislead, I will just have been wrong.  My picks and recs are just exactly as I bet them myself.)  The good news is, I haven't missed many since being on this site, 16-3.)  I am telling everyone the same, this game will not be close by the middle of the third Qtr., so lay all you can afford on it.  Georgia is much too talented, and deep for Hawaii.  I do think CB will put up decent numbers, but the defense will have trouble keeping UGA out of the end zone and will allow way too many points for the offense to overcome.  48-27, UGA by at least 21 is most likely score, but a TD + or - is very possible.  Lot of offense, and a late night finish. 

I appreciate the dissenting opinions though, and congratulate Hawaii on getting to this level game.  June Jones is a very creative coach and seems to really be dedicated to othe program.  Good guy too.  Good luck in your other bets though.

BTW, I am through messing with the other guy, he is either delusional, or just unable to articulate his thoughts clearly.  Maybe something wrong, don't know, sorry for him.  Don't want to tie up a thread on too many he said/she saids.  We should all stick to the game and forget the BS.

I'm tired of reading and tired of defending. Went 0-3 today so the local was nice enough to give out the line for this game early.

Whomever wins this game deserves it plain and simple. No trash talking needed here as the players on the field playing this game should be the only ones trash talking cause they will provide the outcome of this game.
