).......I say the conference this year, more than any other was a farse!!! Every time I looked up.....somebody was piling on the "vaunted" LSU defense......Florida was losing(3 games in all) and Tennessee looked awesome one week and would get destroyed another. Georgia held on for dear life against Vandy......and had Troy give them everything they could handle.....the same Troy team that lost to FAU(might be my biggest bet of the bowl season!!) 
.......they are the ones in the tough spot!! God help that secondary trying to stop Rivers, Bess and the boys. There isn't anybody in the SEC running anything even remotely close to what June's boys do!?!?!? The closest thing to it might be Kentucky.......and that's not even close in philosophy. 
Injury update: Victor Clore (s/t), Kaeo Monteih (LB, captain), and Francis Maka (b/up DL pass rusher) appear to be the only injured. Monteih is the most significant as Defensive play caller, but he had been replaced 3-4 games ago.
Spread: Damn, I said I was gonna hold out until the spread climbed past 11pts...and it is currently at it's lowest 7pts.
Mathew Stafford: I didn't have much respect for a QB that throws an interception every other touch down. It turns out he was the top QB coming out of HS in Texas. He was Freshman of the year in the SEC last year. He loves to bomb it. The highlights I've watched are impressive...but they are highlights.
Moreno: 1,200 yds @5yds pc....impressive? What about Brown w/700 yds ~5ypc...impressive? Dunno.
SEC...weak SOS...4star players...Pedigree dog food...I dunno. Neither Hawaii nor Georgia is invincible. Would Hawaii be 11-3 like last year with a tougher SOS? Not necessarily.
It's funny. I was talking to an ASU fan last week. He was lamenting Hawaii's keeping his team out of the BCS bowls. I said, "What are you talking about? We dominated you in last year's Hawaii Bowl!" He apparently had a mental block of that. (41-24)
Hawaii will be up for this game, and as such, should put up 500yds of offense and 40+ points. Can Georgia match it? I don't think Georgia can pull a Florida-like win with the surprise bombs over the safety for some quick TD's. Can Hawaii stop Moreno like we did Ian Sample?
Hawaii's run game might surprise. Daniel Libre filled in for injured starter Kealoha Pilares in the second half of the season. His ypc was 8.3 yds. (22carries/183yds) The draw play is very effective. The dump pass has not been as successful (KP 241yd, LWJ 146yds, DF 78yds, & DL 61yds). A weak SOS and CB injuries have made this play less visible this year. (Ilaoa had 900yds receiving last year.)
Food for thought:
1. Upsets like Boise State had last year happen every year.
2. Mel Kiper also highly lauded Ryan Leaf and said his attitude would be a big plus when he got to the pros.
Alabama did bump us last year.
The difference between this year and last year? No avoidance issues with the BCS...We did lose to Boise St., Alabama, and Oregon St. Those were close losses.
This year? Big avoidance from the BCS. Starting with MSU paying cold-hard-cash to get out of their contract with Hawaii, the big boys just did-not-want-to-play-us. Who can blame them?
Oh yeah, and we had no close losses. We had close wins.
Our strengths this year: Passing dept. The shoot aspect of our game has never been stronger.
Our weaknesses: The run has been a W.I.P. this year. Last year, we had a top-ten producer in NCAA all-purpose yds at this position. This year, we have been working in three defacto freshman running backs. They are speedier, but they need to learn to hit the gaps...and most importantly....BLOCK!!!!
Our Offensive line lost three starters to the NFL. The replacements have been great, but they are young, and hadn't been starters before.
Defense suffered early with a transition from 3-4 to 4-3...along with a change in DC's. 2 monster DE's and a captain at SS also departed for the NFL. The result?...a W.I.P. Defending the RUN has not been the weakness...except in the early stages of the transition....(La Tech).
Avoidance of the Big Money Programs stuck us with (2) FCS opponents. Colt was effectively out for (5) games with the cupcakes and injuries. Hawaii would love to have a thirteenth game...but no...no...no...no one wanted that to happen.

Actually, those were not WAC ref's that called that matchup in Hawaii. MSU had a losing record that year...is Hawaii responsible for all 7 of the Spartan's losses?
