revenge in this rivalry is ridiculous...i dont think WV hates pitt anymore than they before last year's loss.
KOAJ I am sure you are aware of this but last year's loss was as bitter of a loss as you can have. WV and Pitt have always hated each other but last year WV was going to the BCS championship if they only beat Pitt. WV came out for the first time in there all yellow suits the game was moved to prime time and they got beat by a poor Pitt team. The game ended with Pitt having to punt but they instead ran the ball backwards into there endzone taking the safety and taking WV last gasp at winning. This also led to the exit of Rich Rod to Michigan which was hard on the players who respected him.
There are alot of seniors (Pat White one of them) who returned this year and you can bet they will do everything within there power to lay waste to Pitt in this game. This is the biggest REVEVGE game of the year and I think WV will score as many points as they can and win by a large margin!

good points on both sides...I am going with the team that has the best athletes and is starting to hit their stride...WVU.....I think both coaching staffs are terrible, so that is a wash...I dont think home field means shit in this series (fans are likely to number about the same for both) - WVU is an enigmatic team...they look great for a 1/2 or a game, and then they come out looking like complete shit the next game....I am betting on them coming out smoking hot.....or maybe it is because it is a 12 noon friday game??? Either way, that is what I am playing to get the day going!

guys who are factoring auburn as a quality win need to rewatch some auburn games...i bet against them all year. bottom 10 D1-A offense
pitt is better than they were last year, wvu is not. wvu has no rich rod and no slation. mustache has decent success against wvu and i get an extra 4-5 points b/c people are betting on revenge and laying chalk on the road?
sounds good to me...ill fade that mentality

elvis - stache has been at pitt for 3 years, this is his 4th backyard brawl. his first recruiting class came in 06 so they are getting better and better
i just dont like the eers today. i wont talk anyone in or out of a play...no one has been able to make the case that WVU deserves to be favored by 3 on the road in this game
revenge is overrated. sagarin has them at roughly even, +3 for HFA = a Pitt -3 line so IMO there's 6 points (approx) of value here in taking pitt

The “Backyard Brawl” may not have the shocking results of Pittsburgh ending West Virginia’s national title hopes last season, nevertheless, the Big East title and BCS bid are available.
Pittsburgh will go bowling this season, ending a four-year drought. However, they are just 2-11 against the spread (ATS) when favored at home by 22 or less points, including 1-4 ATS in 2008.
For West Virginia, redemption is among the many reasons they want to beat the rival Panthers and they are 7-1 ATS in the second of two road games and 11-3 straight up and ATS in November/December road games since the 2001 season.

The 101st edition of the "Backyard Brawl" is set to take place at Heinz Field this Friday, as the West Virginia Mountaineers clash with the Pittsburgh Panthers in Big East play. The Mountaineers enter the contest on a winning note, as they defeated Louisville, 35-21, this past weekend. It was the sixth win in the last seven games for WVU, which improved to 7-3 overall. Now at 4-1 within the conference, the Mountaineers can still earn a share of the Big East title with victories over Pittsburgh and South Florida in their season finale. As for Pitt, it controlled its destiny for the Big East crown until last weekend, when it lost to league-leading Cincinnati, 28-21. The setback snapped the team's two-game win streak and dropped it to 7-3 overall and 3-2 within the conference. The Panthers now return back home, where they have struggled a bit, going 3-2 on the year. The Panthers lead this rivalry, 60-37-3, that dates back to 1895 and that includes a 13-9 upset last season that denied WVU a possible trip to the BCS title game.

KOAJ - As you know, the Stache is the Stache...we have to know when to take and when to fade.
Take = at USF +14, at ND +4.5, vs. Ville -6
Fade = at Cincy +6, BG -14, etc...
So the question is: Is it time to take or fade...?
my read on the stache is that he wins or competes when he shouldnt and loses the easy ones. it boggles most people's minds and skews lines all over the place
@ Syr - i took the orange and covered home v Iowa - took the shache and hit on a PK
i took navy and lost to the stache...navy style is similar to wvu IMO so that helps pitt here
